Thee is a bit of a myriad of what if's there. What if Jacobs beats Golovkin? What if Golovkin beats Canelo? What if Golovkin beats Canelo in both fights? What if Golovkin wins one against Canelo, but loses the other.
For me McCallum clearly won the second fight against Toney. A win there for 36-year old Mike wouldn't hurt his standing. I don't think Hagler or Young were robbed btw, but otherwise good shouts so far.
Barerra losing to Marquez. Still to this day it's a fight I thought Barerra should have been given the nod and had he won I think most would rank him higher than JMM in the ATG book of Mexican boxing.
This is a great pick. Ali would have taken a real hit, and Norton would be talked about much higher in H2H battles.
Probably not. Norton is typically given good chances against ATG fighters without true KO power, like Holy and Usyk. It's against punchers he isn't given much chance, and winning the decision against Ali in the rubber wouldn't change that in the slightest.
When you disagree with the scorecards you can point to Compubox to bolster your argument. Ray beat Marvin on both. I don't see the basis for an argument when both are against you.
Fenech v Nelson 1 G v Canelo 1-2 Holmes v Spinks 2 Hagler v Antuofermo 1 These come to mind at the moment
Well… give Norton all 3 Ali bouts, give Young the win too over Ali and Shavers… what’re you left with then? - maybe DQ him for grabbing so much in the second Frazier bout and you realise how much judges and ref’s shape history.
If you gave Uncle Young his fair dues by my card and the papers he’d be a guy who was 26-4-1 at one time with wins over Shavers, Ali, Norton, Foreman Sugar Occasio and Lyle… that’s sort of crazy and says something about a few fighters…
I think Tyson leaving with an NC after two rounds in the Holyfield rematch would’ve helped out his career.
Roberto Duran would've been considered the best boxer of all time, if the judges did not screw him in the Hagler bout
If Foreman had beaten Briggs he was one punch away from being the undisputed GOAT of HW boxing. No Neck in the corner shivering in horror.
Please explain, it's been a while since I've watched it but I remember Hagler getting the better on the inside and holding the pace better in deep water, Duran seemed to fade and stop giving a crap at the end
