LOL you are being disingenuous. The fact is that the heavyweight limit is set at 200lb and that is why your examples will cluster there. Moreover, heavyweight is seen as the glamour division where the money is, which is why smaller fighters will strive their hardest to make the limit. Whereas nobody is going to try their hardest to make cruiser to fight 200lb guys if they can make 175 and fight guys their own size. Your argument is a non-argument.

On one thing we do agree, though: weight matters in a fight.

I'll even agree with you that a weight disparity matters less the heavier the two respective fighters are.

Where we disagree is how much it matters and the rate at which the disparity is diminished. 200lb is an artificial limit created ad hoc to roughly seperate people into weight classes to make it fair.

In other words: more weight is generally an advantage.

This is a problem that Classic has been grappling with for some time. Folks around here want to pretend Sam Langford steps into the ring with Wlad and smashes him up, because the weight doesn't matter.

    It's arrant nonsense.

Notice how Glass Cobra dropped a load in his pants and vanished when I wanted to know why he thinks Galento hits harder than Golovkin. The answer is obvious. Galento is a slugger and is much freaking bigger. But they don't want to admit it.

Your argument is a non argument lol. You took an entire day just to duck the question. I asked you how many times has a 20 pound weight disparity been overcome below 200 pounds. We don't need to focus on guys trying to make heavyweight. Examples of people winning while at a size disadvantage cluster there and way above it because size matters less the bigger you get, not because people are trying to make heavyweight :risas3:

I gave you the data you were asking for and now you're weaseling out trying to change the subject. I'll ask an even better question, tell me how many times has a 40 pound weight disparity been overcome below heavyweight ? Because weight difference roughly double that have been overcome above 200 pounds.

OK, I understand that you are not very bright. You are obviously struggling with this.

Let's say that I find TWENTY examples of that. What does that prove, statistically, given the hundreds of thousands of fights that have taken place in boxing? That result is insignificant.

Likewise the fact that you don't understand that a 200lb limit is arbitrary is not my problem, it is yours.

What is important is that you agree that weight matters.

I look forward to quoting you in future discussions :deal:

Diminishing returns increase exponentially above 200 pounds off real life data, which you asked for and I provided. Now you're trying to switch up
How did that weight help Miller out when he was colossal against Dubois ? Do you even realize how big that size difference was ? Not to mention Dubois was never an elite heavyweight. Or how about old shot Holyfield and Haye vs Valuev. Furthermore how many quality cruiserweights and light heavyweights have these big heavyweights dominated ?

So you are now arguing the opposite? That weight doesn't really matter?

Are you backing Golovkin vs Louis?

Have 'the boys' whipped you back into line?

Good showing from a young Foreman there.
He didn't seem deterred by the awkward stature of O'Halloran - kept working to find his spots and get the job done.
The win was well received, with observers forming a firmer expectation that Foreman would soon be a contender.
At that stage of his career, it was an impressive performance.

Every physical factor matters in a fight. Speed, power, weight, durability, stamina, technical skill lmfao. Stop playing this black and white false dilemma fallacy BS, size matters as does everything else, size is a significant factor that we agree on. Doesn't mean it can't be nullified to a large extant. I clearly showed you numerous examples of a massive weight difference being overcome. It's common historically.

Louis is better than Golovkin pfp, you didn't want to hear that. Their legacies are worlds apart. Golovkin isn't even as great as Hopkins and doesn't have the resume of a Hagler to compensate. Dude didn't want to fight light heavyweights despite his durability and power while Toney and Canelo went for bigger fish

    Ok.
    Nope, he is not.

    P4P Golovkin > Louis.

I realise that you didn't want to hear that, but those are the facts.

Good thing i also listed numerous examples of huge size disadvantages being annulled by the smaller man so we don't have a false dichotomy of circumstances, if you haven't seen them, but since you agree...
GGG is not pfp greater than Louis.
Less title defenses, less ranked names, never undisputed, arguably (officially) lost to Canelo the 2nd time and Derevyanchenko since Golovkin fans take opinion over results and he was never at a size disadvantage as big as Louis was vs Baer and Simon (diminishing returns but you don't want to acknowledge this fact so I'll use it against you) LOL

A jab merchant, by definition, is someone who excessively jabs, that's their best outstanding quality, and they're not that good at other things. Whenever they're in trouble, the resort to spamming jabs, kind of like what Golovkin did in the 2nd Canelo fight after he spent like a year talking trash saying Canelo should fight him "Mexican style".

Other examples would be boxers like Larry Holmes, Carl Williams, etc.

To call Joe Louis a jab merchant is the most idiotic thing I've read in my life. His jab wasn't his main outstanding quality. He didn't spam jabs or overly rely on them. In the vast majority of his fights, he lets his hands go throwing very brutal combinations upstairs and downstairs. He has a great 1-2, a good hook, good cross counter, was great at parrying and setting up traps, etc.

Correction: you doubled down on a very stupid comment and will no doubt continue to double down insisting Joe Louis, perhaps the greatest combination puncher of his division, was a "jab merchant".

Should I make a poll so you can continue embarrassing yourself since you're so certain about your position?

Southpawsrule didn't even do 1/3 of the things I asked him to do and just posted a shitty clip of Golovkin and Canelo having a sloppy exchange. More nonsense from planet delusion.

Wait, you're still harping on about me saying Galento hit 3x harder than Golovkin? I stand by that. Galento KOs heavyweights cold. Golovkin often needed an accumulation of punches to wear down his best middleweight opponents or didn't stop them at all. There's a reason he back pedaled after saying he'd whoop anyone from 154-175, his power wasn't going to translate to the higher classes and Ward spooked him.

Show me the definition. Feels to me that you are pulling sheet out your ass.
^ So you didn't watch that fight either? The same as you didn't watch Canelo slip Jacobs' best efforts and then demanded I post Canelo slipping Jacobs' punches?

Given that you have been writing the most idiotic things ever seen, I guess that you don't read your posts before hitting end, right?
You could apply all of that to Golovkin and add body punches, overhands and punches that Louis had never even seen before.

    JAB MERCHANT IN DA HOUSE!!!!

Oh, OK. Then I'll ask YOU to do something. Count all the punches Louis throws against Marciano and tell me how many jabs vs other punches he throws  Cry harder.

I can feel your face burning in shame as you realise that you got malleted

Explain to me how it is relevant that Galento KOed heavyweights specifically.

Im not denying Louis’ technical ability, I just don’t see how it compares to Canelo. Its not even his fault, its just the competition is vastly different. Louis could afford to drop his hands when throwing a combo, Canelo and GGG got caught with clean counters whenever they did so against each other.

I just gave it to you.

I watched it live. Golovkin spammed jabs all night. He threw nearly twice as many jabs as he did any other punches. Roy Jones even called this out.

    Don't you mean "send"?

Ironic. Next time read your posts carefully before attempting to insult someone.

I didn't say all Golovkin does is throw jabs, I said he heavily relies on them and it's his best punch and most outstanding quality. You can't say the same about Louis.

An ancient Louis in his last fight isn't an accurate picture of how Louis fought on average in more than 60 fights.

Already addressed this above, this is an idiotic request given how old Louis was and it's hardly an accurate picture of his average tendencies.

By your logic, we can look at George Foreman of the Briggs fight and say Foreman was a jab merchant ignoring his 70+ other fights.

Certainly not by any of the bozos in this thread. Not one of you have made a single valid point yet.

Because it's more difficult to KO heavyweights. They're bigger and more durable. Anymore stupid questions...?
