Here’s the thing about “Prime” Liston… on film what do we have to go by? The two Williams fights? Machen 1 and… ? Couple guys who shouldn’t have been in the ring with him? He’s a lot like Foreman in that he has a very limited sample size of “prime” fights available and it inflates him… let’s imagine if we only had Holyfield vs Tyson, Bowe 2 and Moorer 2 plus a couple “cans” Liston just didn’t have enough fights against good opponents to make an accurate call on whether he could rumble with HOLYFIELD this ain’t Zora Folley or some other guy he typically outweighed by 20lbs… this a top 5 HW of all time, some respectable people have him at number 3! Liston is too unproven to hang with “the real deal”
