It’s nice to hear you don’t mind a bit of Wlad bashing, maybe we can bond over that some time…wait hold on, i can’t help it…

    bum!
    Big stiff soviet bum!
    glass chin
    Horrible grabby style
Could’ve ko’d AJ if he remembered a left hook was a thing.
    Worse than his brother
Never mind the left hook, he can’t even remember how to punch vs Fury.
Apparently some intellectual wizard, shame he can’t remember how to box!
    Bum

    sorry…

All three were long reigning champs with multiple title defenses who dominated their eras having one without the other is inconsistent

Nah, only one was ko’d by multiple second tier fighters.
    Dreadful style
Would be exposed by any really great heavyweight

Just to throw some extra stats in there. At the time of Louis' first retirement, there had been 80 lineal heavyweight title fights. Louis had been in, and won, 26 of them. Or 32.5%.

He beat nearly a third of the former linear heavyweight champions. He was 16th champion, and he beat the 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th as well as the 18th.

From 1889 to 1948, that's 61 years from the first heavyweight title fight to Louis' first retirement. He was champion for 12 of those years, which makes up about 20%. 20 ****in percent.

Wlad gets Ali, Holmes and basically any other boxer type who’d be small and relied on or were overly stylistically influenced by there height, size and reach IMO…. That’s why while Louis is smaller then say Liston he’d do a lot better he knew how to fight everybody of every size.

I remember in Joe Louis' autobiography "My Struggle" he said of Poreda "If I'd have fought him even a couple of years earlier I'd have been too late to the party." Really makes you think.

The sequel was called 'Fifty Shades Of Grey.' Because in the old footage, there is no black or white fighter. Or Latinx. Everyone is just a different shade of Grey. A lesson for all of us in our own struggles to watch those old fights.

For me Wlad is certainly a shoe in. Usyk also ability wise, but he probably won't get the time to prove it in numbers.

We rate Liston, Frazier, Foreman and Tyson mainly on their three, four best years, but for some reason Wlad can't be rated mainly on his best ten?

Great, thanks! There's also a thread where his wins over opp ranked at the time are broken down: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/which-heavyweight-defeated-the-most-top-10-contenders.277994/
