I’m not disputing either statement.

My point stands. Just go and search for some of the hyperbolic threads that were made a few years back about Hrgovic. Much of it is purely down to the fact that he is a non-British European.

Anyway that was one of the better Hrgovic performances I’ve seen offensively albeit against a British level fighter.

He's not always been impressive that's for sure. And not done as well in the pros as expected, but he's still proved to be a good fighter.

It's not helped that he's from a tiny country with a small population, with not much diaspora. So there's been nowhere to make him build a following. And he's had less opportunities because of that.

Disagree about the shaky thing. He has a solid granite chin. Never been stopped pro or amateur, which for a heavyweight is an incredible stat.

 

yes, the only thing i would say about the chin is that when he does get hit clean, he seems to become open to getting hit again and again, so maybe that's what the guy is alluding to. His chin is certainly superb.

OK I remember reading some of the threads, he was overrated and overhyped, I agree with that. But I don't agree it's because he's 'european'. It's the glamour division and most followed division, anyone coming up who's decent from wherever gets hyped up.

I think part of his hyping comes from his World Series of Boxing days where he was just a young teenager beating much older men and very impressive, his amateur success. And the sparring stories with people like Joshua praising him and rating him highly.
