30 days was fair enough. 90 seems excessive without a proper explanation.

Are you telling us you think Bivol underwent back surgery for tactical reasons?

If he has had surgery he needs time to recover from it. That 'aint rocket science.

Not saying that but even he admitted that it was for quality of life reasons and not essential as it's something he's been dealing with for a long time.

Perhaps it was time he stopped dealing with it and had it repaired? Why keep putting up with something when it can only hinder you and you have the option of getting it fixed? No brainer.

Why didn't he do it after the first Beterbiev fight(which coincidentally he lost) he wins the belts and then the entire division has to be on the backburner because he decides to sort an issue out that clearly had little to no impact on his boxing career.

Perhaps the condition got worse? If he has been putting up with it for ages, it is hardly likely to be getting better.

We are comparing here a guy recovering from back surgery to a guy who says he has an injury but is providing nothing whatsoever to support the claim.

a back surgery which he admits has been present for his entire career. He was fine enough to take the rematch and win a very close decision.

an issue he admits which is a nuisance more than anything else. It's holding up the division and preventing a trilogy that needs to happen sooner rather than later. Bivol decided to get the surgery when the timing benefited him most. It's clear as day. If Bivol was more intelligent he would have chosen his words wisely.

Isn't this exactly what I've been saying? There is never any consistency with the sanctioning bodies, the rankings, or anything else in boxing. Besides everyone doing whatever they think makes them the most money.

The only reason Usyk got this mandatory called is because Frank Warren wanted it to be called. Period, end of story. If it was Fury in Usyk's position the WBO wouldn't have a mumblin' word to say other than, "When is Fury Chisora 4 happening?"

Ya'll are sticklers for the rules when the rules are literally just there to benefit the sanctioning bodies and the promoters. None of them care about the integrity of the sport. None of them care about meritocracy or fighters getting a fair shake. And most of the fighters don't care either. I guarantee you if Joe Parker was in Usyk's position he'd be doing the exact same thing requesting extensions so he could figure out what he wanted to do. And just like Usyk, he'd be perfectly in his rights to do so.

Also, on a side note, it's clear none of you have dealt with any sort of contract negotiations, fielding multiple business offers, etc. Usyk might be leaning towards retirement and is talking with Jake Paul's people about an MMA match. But Jake might also be in discussions with AJ's people about making that nonsense fight a reality. He might be talking with Turki about whether Turki wants to pay Parker off to make the Itauma fight happen. That would involve Parker and his team, Itauma and his team, and Turki while also having to figure out a date to do it on. Maybe he wants to put the body weakness silliness to bed by fighting Kabayel. Now he's got to talk to Kabayel's people to see if they want that fight, where it'll take place, who would pay for it, while also dropping the WBO belt.

Ya'll act like this is all simple stuff where you just go yeah, sure, give have fight. No. There are tons of options to consider, multiple people you have to negotiate with, dates that need to be hashed out, deciding where the money is coming from to put the fights on, and a whole host of other things. But I want the next fight negotiated right this very minute and I want three separate world class doctors to give a 50 page written testimony of his injuries or I'm gonna get really mad and uh, uh, uh. . .call Usyk a traitor and a duck and a fraud!! That'll show 'em! My eyes literally can't roll any harder.

Bottom line is we are comparing here a guy recovering from back surgery to a guy who says he has an injury but is providing nothing to support the claim.

It is the same organisation in both cases, the WBO, and they should be applying the same level of scrutiny to each case.

I love Usyk but if that is what Parker wants, he has waited long enough. Let Usyk fight Parker as WBO champ.

And by the way, what would be the harm in that?

I think he did prior to vacating the ibf. I expect him to vacate all the belts and pack it up

i was just as vocal when Whyte was being stalled by the WBC. Mandatories exist for a reason.
