Mike Tyson v Razor Ruddock I

    Round 1: 10-9 Tyson
    Round 2: 10-8 Tyson (scores a knockdown)
    Round 3: 10-8 Tyson (scores a knockdown)
    Round 4: 10-9 Tyson
    Round 5: 10-9 Tyson
    Round 6: 10-9 Razor
    Round 7: Tyson stops Razor

Total through 6 completed rounds: 59-53 Tyson (all 3 judges called it 59-53 for Tyson)

I remember this back in the day but wanted to check it out again. Man, it's been a long time since I saw a heavyweight fight with two fast, in-shape warriors and i enjoyed every second of it.

Hector Camacho vs Roberto Duran I
    Legend vs Legend TVKO PPV.

I thought it was a good fight, and at 45 years old Duran fought like he was 25. It was a great performance and I think Duran won it pretty convincingly.

    Camacho rounds. 1, 2, 7*, 9*
    Duran rounds. 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10*, 11, 12.
    (*) =Close rounds.

    116-112 Roberto Duran!

Duran controlled the pace, and landed the better shots on a gassed out Camacho. This was a Robbery. Smh

Scar I consider this a bad decision I thought Malinga clearly won it with his jab.

It's not often talked about but I think Malinga should be 2-0 vs Nigel Benn he clearly beat him twice in my view.

D, I too liked Malinga in this bout but only by a round. Did you have it wider?

Yeah from memory I had it by atleast 2 for Malinga but I thought it was one of them competitive but clear wins for Malinga I don't see much case for a Benn victory in all honesty mate.

Drenlou, y'know, I never saw this fight before. Must've been working or something because I would never miss the Tuesday night fights. Anyways, I've been seeing renewed interest in this fight and your call of robbery got me curious. So here we go.

Roberto Duran v Hector Camacho I (for some crap version of a middleweight title)

    Round 1: 10-9 Camacho
    Round 2: 10-9 Camacho
    Round 3: 10-9 Duran
    Round 4: 10-10 Even
    Round 5: 10-9 Duran
    Round 6: 10-9 Duran
    Round 7: 10-9 Duran
    Round 8: 10-9 Duran
    Round 9: 10-9 Camacho
    Round 10: 10-9 Duran
    Round 11: 10-9 Duran
    Round 12: 10-10 Even

Total: 117-113 Duran (actual scores: 115-113, 116-113 and 117-111 all for Camacho)

There was nothing scintillating about this fight, mostly because Camacho grappled like Duran was his girlfriend for 12 rounds. But even then it was Duran who kept his hands busy by pounding a right into Hector's slats everytime Hector clutched. Duran also made use of a lead right throughout, remembering the old axiom that a southpaw was open to that punch. It wasn't the lead right from 1980, but it was enough. In a nutshell, I agree, Duran was robbed. One more thing; I still miss the Tuesday Night Fights.

Arturo Gatti vs Micky Ward I

One of the best fights I've ever seen! Gatti boxed beautifully for the first 2 rounds then decided to go to war! How bout that 9th round though? Might be the best round of the century. Now did I think Ward should have been given the nod in such a close fight? No, in fact I had it a draw. But man I was 18 when I saw it live, and haven't watched it in about 20 years. This fight had me at the edge of my seat like it was 2002 all over again.

    Gatti rounds. 1, 2, 3*, 6, 7, 10
    Ward Rounds. 4, 5, 8, 9.

Two 10-8 Rounds scored for Ward in Rounds 4, and 9.

    Drenlous official scorecard is:

    94-94 EVEN a Draw!

I believe that judicial scores were too narrow (147-145, 147-144 and 147-143 in favour of Monzon). Monzon won this fight rather convincingly.

Frank Nicotra v Ray Close (Euro super middleweight title)

    Round 1: 10-9 Nicotra
    Round 2: 10-9 Close
    Round 3: 10-9 Close
    Round 4: 10-9 Close
    Round 5: 10-9 Close
    Round 6: 10-9 Nicotra (scores a knockdown)
    Round 7: 10-9 Close
Round 8: Nicotra drops and stops Close

Total through 7 completed rounds: 68-65 Close (actual scores: 69-65, 69-66 and 67-66 all for Close)

Man, I gotta tell ya, I was watching this, trying to get a handle on Nicotra and finally came away with the opinion that that was one lazy fighter. He had a big punch, but really reliant on it. Ray Close simply outworked this guy throughout and I was glad to see that the neutral judges weren't swayed by the partisan crowd. To tell you how many highlights of Nicotra there were, between rounds the French telecast would show solely anything outstanding Nicotra did that round. There was so little that at one point the best they could show was a left hook thrown by Nicotra, but a punch that Close blocked. That was it. Regarding my 10-9 in the 6th, Close was dropped by a right hand. Close immediately got up and was waving it off as a slip. I did feel it was a legitimate knockdown and so did the ref. However, I could not give the Frenchman a 10-8 because that was about all he did that round. Had it not been for the knockdown, I would have given the round to Close. The finale in the 8th was solid. A right uppercut and then a more telling left to the temple done in Close, and the stoppage was just.

While it’s fresh ish in my head, did Foreman vs Chuvalo last week. Think it was several big winding left hooks that finished it, I don’t think Chuvalo was too far away from going down from those as he was basically defenceless. Good call by the referee.
Crazy to look at that year of 1970 and see George fought 12 times! There were a good few that brought some rounds to, so not all blow overs.

    Frank Nicotra v Antoine Byrd

    Round 1: 10-9 Byrd
    Round 2: 10-9 Nicotra
    Round 3: 10-9 Byrd
    Round 4: 10-9 Byrd
    Round 5: 10-9 Byrd
    Round 6: 10-10 Even
    Round 7: 10-9 Byrd
    Round 8: 10-9 Byrd
    Round 9: 10-9 Byrd
    Round 10: 10-9 Nicotra

Total: 98-93 Byrd (actual scores not known but Byrd was announced as the winner)

I wanted to see one more of Nicotra's fights and this looked to be his coming out party, bringing over a rated American. But man, did Byrd give him a lacing. Sharp combos came in from every angle and from body language alone I think Nicotra's corner had to coax him out for the 9th and 10th. What a beautiful job Byrd performed on the one-dimensional Nicotra.
