Punching power in the heavyweight division is almost the most important thing.

An example is Justis Huni who forced Wardley to the ropes on a couple of occasions but didn't have the power to finish him off. Although Huni is technically gifted, he didn't have the level of technique to make up for that lack of power, Wardley ultimately took advantage of it...

Usyk would beg to differ. His skill has overcome power on multiple occasions.

Usyk is not a big puncher, but he has power to keep his man honest. Huni doesn't.

    Sure is.....................imagine Chris Byrd with Iron Mike's power from 1999 - 2007.

Power can compensate for a lot but all round boxing skill is the most important thing. Usyk and Fury are two of the lesser punchers in the division while being considered the top two HWs of the last several years.

In today’s era of slackers, I think conditioning is the most important. Zhang has plenty of power, but all you got to do is be careful the first 6 rds, then take it to him.

I mean you look at Usyk and Wilder and see who clearly had the better career between the biggest example of a boxer and a puncher.

Let's face it, Usyk has perfected technique and that's how he makes up for his lack of power, although he does have good power...

Like a lot of attributes there is a minimum required to compete at the top level and Huni doenst have that minimum. "Non-punchers" like Parker, Usyk etc still have enough pop to keep people honest.

Its the same with stamina, chin etc, there is a minimum required to be competitive at the top level. I think Huni may also be missing the chine component.

Usyk and Fury prove it doesn't

Both could never rely on their power so became attrition skillfull boxers and they are leagues ahead of their plodding competitors.

Skills pay the bills, one thing Floyd is very right about. If you have better footwork than your opponent in theory they will have a hard time finding you. Usyk very rarely gets out of position watching him run into two Fury uppercuts was a rare occasion and he was just abit keen with his dubious belly shot.

No its not. The Chin is THE most important attribute a fighter can have.

Power is extremely important in every division. That's why it's the proverbial gift from the gods of war.

If that was the case Wilder or Zhang should be undisputed. Instead we have an undersize skilled boxer with average power for a heavyweight that is ruling the devision.

I think chin + skill is. Without chin you can be the best boxer and it will take one to erase all the hard work. In fact I think that’s what your example in Huni shows. Usyk would not have been as successful without a chin even if he was a huge puncher. He took big shots from Joshua, fury, Dubois that could have ended his night

Muhammad Ali and Oleksandr Usyk already proved that wasn't the case.
