Roach was just given step aside money from Netflix. Now that Tank has opted for a Jake Paul exhibition instead of a rematch who should Roach fight in the mean time? Should he stick around 135 and face guys like of Shakur, Muratalla, Zepeda instead or should he defend his 130 title?
So, that's why Tank announced his retirement? If Tank retired, why pay Lamont step aside money. Stuff doesn't make sense. Lamont deserves to get paid. He is more deserving of the rematch and was deserving of the win.
He has an abundance of options At LW: Muratalla, Zepeda, Schofield, K. Davis at JLW: Navarrete, Foster, Ray Ford
I guess hes gonna get the “honor” to fight for Twinks belt when it goes vacant, the one that he was robbed of in the first fight.. I never expected to be rooting for Jake Paul when he finally got a fight against a world level fighter… but here we are… If the fights anything near real, it should be a mugging with the size difference anyway..
I’m not sure if Roach has arrived or if he just matches up well with Davis. I think he should fight someone like De Los Santos and not screw up the rematch Or whomever if the belt is vacated.
Who would you pick in the Gervonta vs Paul fight? I'd go with Gervonta unless this fight is contracted at 200 lbs
Tank should just be able to do a Roy Jones impersonation and win that way. Paul isn’t on the same planet as an athlete.
I think Paul wins because hes just so much bigger than Tank but what you've said is a distinct possibility. Tank hopping on his bike could definitely be Jake hes just a lot faster and Jake has been shown to gas when he has to actually try, to put it simply Jake is athletic for a normal guy, Tank is actually athlete athletic
I’m sure Tank has spared with plenty of average light heavies and cruisers already. I doubt he’ll be uncomfortable.
Roach deserves a big payday, regardless of who it is. It's outrageous that Tank has been allowed to sidestep a legitimate rematch to fight this clown. It's a glorified spar, and I really don't know who the bigger joke here is: the ex-world champion who has jumped ship as soon as he was backed into a corner and threatened with an actual 50/50 matchup, or the YouTuber journeyman-level cruiserweight who is trying to advertise an exhibition against a lightweight as a legitimate contest. We can thank Mayweather for this thread unravelling. He birthed these highly profitable crossover circus events, and I think we've got a long way to go before we reach the bottom of the barrel.
Navarrete I believe got ordered a rematch against Suarez after the NC so isn't likely available for the rest of the year. Foster has a fight scheduled with Fulton in October under Fundora-Thurman so no. Ray Ford just fought last week, and likely won't be available until the end of the year if at all of 2025. Given Roach's last fight at 130 was over a year ago (June 2024) and he's still sitting on the WBA 130 belt, if he's fighting in 130 the only realistic choice should be Jazza Dickens (interim 130) in the next few month or get stripped. He deserved the win against Tank at 135, but he doesn't deserve to be allowed to just sit on 130 endlessly because of that. Muratalla has a mandatory against Andy Cruz (or if not, probably an easy homecoming defense for his belt) and I don't think Roach is a sweet reward enough target (despite the Tank fame) for Muratalla to get interested to fight him. Zepeda I'm not sure if Oscar would want to put him in a fight that could risk him getting two losses in a row, I believe he'd want an easy win column guy next to reset the loss to Shakur. Schofield (at least his Dad) seems to me like the type that wouldn't want him to fight anyone risky enough unless it is for the 135 belt at this point. K. Davis blew his weight royally on his first weight and is now stripped and should be fighting in 140 next. So if he's gonna fight at 135 next (in that case he should officially vacate the 130 belt) and with Tank rematch officially gone, it really might actually become Shakur surprisingly. Very unfortunately, I believe it was officially announced with date.
I doubt it but some people seem to be really high on this kid. He’s a talented young fighter but the hype he gets is unreal.
