I mean, Ez started out at middle and sometimes had to stop training because he was so underweight. Yeah, he was capable of generating power do to speed, timing and athleticism, but there were guys who hit harder at heavy.

Also, he tended to coast when he got ahead when he fought at heavy. It bit him in the ass with some bad decisions.

Walls was one of the rare breed who retired while in his prime and still a ranked contender. His wife had just had a baby and he decided boxing was too dangerous for a man with his new responsibilities.

He was being looked at as a prospective opponent for Rocky Marciano when he retired. I believe he was only 28 and he wasn't shop worn either.

I would have paid to see Earl Walls fight Rocky. I'd have liked his chances.

Far as I know, Walls was 6'2 205-210 and had a heavy punch. Would have showed us what Rocky can do vs a top 200+ pound contender who can punch.

He had a draw with James J. Parker in 1955 who was stopped by Archie Moore and beaten by 7-2 Edgardo Romero in 54 he was also KO'd in 1 by Abel Cestac in 1950 who was 5-7-2 in 1950 - also split fights with Tommy Harrison in 54 who was 4-7-1 from 1953-1956 - he beat a few shot fighters, but I don't see Walls fighting successfully at the top level.

Its smart he gave up the gloves he wouldve definitely got some more upset wins but boxing is a mental game and i feel like he wasnt as motivated compared to when he wanted to get the rocky fight

Hey tell me this... 220lb abel cestac lost to 177lb archie moore now explain that since you wanna praise cestac because it takes a loser to lose to a 177lb person and your 220lbs losing what a bum abel cestac is a coward that took on smaller shorter fighters and lost hahah how do u outweigh your opponents by 30-40 lbs and lose lol, the only reason he beat walls was because walls was green still, also he beat shot fighters??? What about Rex layne he fought layne the year after rex layne defeated ezzard charles so how tf did earl walls beat a shot Rex layne??? Layne litteraly won against charles which is a big accomplishment youll never do big tough guy
