Moments when a boxer you know showed up or was mentioned unexpectedly in media

When I was a teenager, I used to watch a teen oriented soap opera-sitcom from Argentina named Chiquitias. (Tiny Angels) , where the premise as the title suggests was an orphanage for little kids, but as the show increased in popularity, they integrated teen characters too and so it was a major hit among teens across Latin America. Hence me watching when I was younger.

I revisited an episode recently in You Tube.

And a famous boxer was named, quite surprisingly to me.

A boy has a crush on a girl (it was a co-ed orphanage, and by the time this particular episode ran, the children characters were between ages 7 and 16), but she is his best friend's ex, and his best friend still feels something for her, and is jealous.

Boy: "I have to see Barbarita, I must, but what do I tell Guillermo?....wait, I have an idea! I'll tell him I am going to the store to buy boxing gloves" (there were separate rooms for the boys and the girls, but the setting was a manor so people could slip between rooms without being detected rather easily-this was make believe anyways)

But it turned out Guillemro actually overheard him...

And so as the dude is leaving to the girl's room to see Barbara, Guillermo intercepts him...

Guillermo: "where are you going?"
Boy ("Corcho") :" I have to buy some boxing gloves"
Guillermo:"Since when do you like boxing?"
Corcho:" "I love boxing, I want to be a boxer!"
Guillermo "Who is your favorite boxer?"
Corcho: "Well of course, Monzon! Carlos Monzon!" he says smiling thinking he can fool his friend..
Guillermo: "Don;t be a fool! Everybody knows Carlos Monzon in Argentina! I overheard you and you are going to talk to Barbarita!!"
Corcho breaks the fifth wall and talks to the camera: "now, i really need to go buy some boxing gloves!"

Do you remember any other instances in which a boxer was named on a tv show, song, or something and you did not expect it? Either live or on a recorded work?


(PS, people who knew me as a teen, say i looked a lot like Barbarita after I let my hair grow and started taking care of it lol!)

There was also a Puetto Rican movie, which funnliy enough,, my friend from childhood Jorge Antares who is an actor , was involved in getting the filming location licenses for, in which at the end of it, they say "every kid in Puerto Rico wants to be the next Wilfredo Gomez or Tito Trinidad"...

I cant remember the name of that production through, but it was partly filmed at the gym I used to visit as a kid, hence my friend,m who was the town's film commish at the time, getting involved.

And Then there is Fists of Fury with Alexis Arguello, Danny Lopez, Carlos Palomino, Armando Muniz and Ruben Castillo. I'd loved to see Juan Laporte or Gomez in it too and of course had Salvador Sanchez been alive, he'd probably played a Mexican undercover cop on that too lol,
