He was definitely an ATG IMO. I do believe one of the Lockridge fights was very debatable though. Can't remember which one now lol. Rocky was one hell of a fighter. Admitted he was an addict his whole career. That speaks volumes to me.

I read it as it was intended to be written because I don't read by sliding one finger under each letter and mouthing it out.

This thread is getting personal, Oh and Ali looked like a billion bucks in that YouTube with Ringo. He certainly earned Ringo's respect. Before the fight he was saying to Ali, "You chicken. Why you no fight in war?" After the fight he said. " I strong. You stronger. You beat Frazier." He was a lil premature on that one. Sad Ringo met such an early and violent end. Reminds me a bit of Duram personality wise, not skill wise. Manos de Piedra is lucky to have a grounded wife.

OK, so not 'greats', but I always feel AJ gets a lot of criticism...One of my personal dislikes is when someone calls a fighter 'a bum' particularly when it is demonstrably untrue. And two of my favourite fighters over the years, Tommy Morrison and Frank Bruno also come in for a lot of stick. People would have you believe that neither can stand up in a stiff breeze. Both guys came to fight, had a tear up and win, lose or draw, left it all in the ring, Bruno's only exception here was Tyson 2 but goodness knows what demons he was facing by that point...

"Late" or no, Garcia was considered a dangerous puncher until his last punch was thrown.

"Ali’s style" netted him KOs & stoppages over a who's-who of elite hws over 2 decades. Norton went a combined 39 rnds w/ ALi w/o being either stopped or floored even once, & fought him even-up across all 3 fights, something Foreman, Frazier, Liston, Lyle, Quarry, Bonavena, & a host of other rugged fighters from that era can't claim to have accomplished.

"a series of sucker punches" isn't even a thing, & Bonavena was smashed by an atg hook that left him chicken legged & unable to recover. It was every bit as much a KO/stoppage as Tyson-Berbick & Tszyu-Judah. Bonavena had previously taken everything Frazier could hit him w/ over a combined 15 rnds w/o going down even once, & he later withstood everything Lyle hit him w/ as well.

Nobody else could ever KO/stop Foreman no matter what the circumstances - tired, old, etc.

Makes you wonder why no other hw just adopted this magic "style" & used it to give Ali hell every time they fought. :nusenuse::lol:

Norton had a relatively brief peak due to his late start in the sport, + 39 combined rnds w/ Ali & an ATG battle w/ Holmes is likely enough to take something out of any fighter. Even as early as the Young & Holmes fights, his legs were visibly slower & more flatfooted than they had been during his 1st 2 fights w/ Ali.

There was a time when I thought Ward might have to hire extra security with the amount of hate he was receiving. You'd think he kicked a puppy or something.

Never understood how people can dunk on boxers like Morrison, Briggs, or Joshua, but they praise the hell out of Ruddock, Smith, and Peter.

Another sad truth is the lack or respect shown to the Klitschko brothers, particularly Wlad. Either are H2H problems for most heavyweights in history in my humble opinion.

    Anthony Joshua without a doubt.

People like Rocky Marciano, GGG, Loma, Foreman, Canelo, Klitschko's etc get just as much love as they do hate but NO ONE is an AJ fanboy lol. You'd think he's comparable to Charles Martin if you only heard people's opinions of him.

Just so I have this clear you think Liston and Williams catch too much criticism, and somehow that’s not a positive take?
