I read somewhere that there was talk about Robinson moving up to fight Patterson in 1959. Is this true?

I hope not, it would have been murder. Robinson would have been humiliated.

Wow that's a pretty dark prediction but I could even see a Tyson/Spinks scenario playing out.

Yeah I think I read where there was some talk about Robinson moving up to take on Patterson in 1959. I'll see if I can find the article.

Robinson was barely winning fights against top MW's at that stage of his career.

I think the idea was tossed out there for Robinson to get a pay day. And he must have needed one if he was seriously considering taking on Patterson. When he was in his prime, his manager suggested a fight at LHW with Ezzard Charles and Robinson replied "You ****ing fight him". If in his prime he didn't want to take on Charles, past his prime he must've been hurting for money to consider taking on Patterson.

What about peak Robinson? We´ve learned on BF24 that weight means nothing, so this should be an easy task for greatest fighter of all times, huh?

I see what you're getting at, but weight does mean less as you go up. Although it still matters. For example, Holyfield, giving away 95 pounds to Valuev arguably beat him. Holyfield was 215 and Valuev 310. On the other hand, take the best ATG featherweight you can think of and put him against a mediocre heavyweight contender that owns a 95 pound or more weight advantage. The feather weight would be killed because a 115 pound fighter fighting a 210 pound fighter is much different from a 215 pound fighter fighting a 310 pound fighter.

Robinson doesn't come out of this well at all .Maybe ,Just maybe he gets through the first few round just by dancing. Once Floyd finds him ,I see Patterson really laying in to him.
Floyd by 5 th round tko .

Peak or no peak, Robinson wouldn't win this so I'm glad it never happened.
