Seems to have become a big deal over the weekend. High profile name in camp to assist a fighter prepare to face an opponent you are/were gunning for.

I think it's hilarious for the simple fact that Jaron "Boots" Ennis tries to go out his way to convince the public that his style is nothing like Terence Crawford's. Even tries to go as far as to belittle Crawford's achievements and skill set as if he has accomplished so much more vs stellar competition......lol.

It's documented that Ennis has called out Crawford multiple times and then when the fight was presented to him, he (or his camp) turned down the opportunity.....TWICE stating loyalty to a platform that is no longer existant for boxing today (Showtime). Bozy (his father/trainer) confirmed it, so it's not a rumor.

Crawford's camp responded in a manner that most who know them would expect them to. They don't care.

Boots has a different style to Crawford where he's reliant on explosiveness and athleticism but I still think he's a good fighter for Canelo to help him prepare for someone like Crawford. Part of me thinks Boots is doing this out of spite against Crawford for turning him down.

    Brilliant
Both fighters will benefit greatly from these sparring sessions.

in fact this will definitely help swing the pendulum in Boots favor vs Ortiz.

Sugar Boots Ennis was lighting Canelo up in sparring, look at that smile, that style is tailor made for Boots. Dude is a super middleweight, 154 is feeding grounds for a future all time great like Jaron

Boots and Crawford have a lot of similarities in their style. This is why it was often brought up as Boots name started to get some traction in the sport. It was Boots who would jump in front of every camera and shoot that notion down suggesting they were nothing alike. Kind of like he was offended he was being compared to another man.

And Crawford never turned him down. Actually it's quite the opposite. Crawford's camp actually reached out to Boots' camp when the Spence negotiations stalled. At the time Boots didn't have a fight lined up and he was ranked #3 by the WBO, the title Crawford held at the time. Boots camp was the ones who turned down the fight. This is the reason why David Avaneysan got the fight even though he was ranked behind Boots. Avaneysan actually petitioned to get the fight rather than just jumping in front of a camera claiming he wanted the fight. Boots camp was approached by the WBO sanctioning body as well, inquiring about his interest in a title shot vs Crawford. Bozy Ennis, Boots' father/trainer, said out his own mouth that they declined it stated loyalty to the Showtime platform...... Which made zero sense because all 3 time the Crawford fight was presented to them, was after the Crawford/Porter fight. Crawford's last fight under the Top Rank banner, thus he was a free agent and could have fought on any platform. So there shouldn't be any "spite" thrown at Crawford over a fight opportunity, because Boots had 3 chance in which he at the very least could have began negotiating a fight, but decided against it.

What was told to me is that there was history between Ennis & Canelo. Apparently Ennis has an older brother who was a part of Canelo's camp to prepare for the Sugar Shane fight some years back, thus the reason they reached out to them for this fight.

That's if Boots actual moves forward with the Ortiz fight. This man seems to have made turning down opportunities for big fights an artform.

Lol.....I see you are apart of the Boots hype train.... That's cool. I support that. I would like to see him actually challenge himself and stop coming up with excuses for not being able to adjust before I put his name in the same sentence as a phrase like "all time great". He did nothing impressive as a welterweight, but 154 is supposed to be feeding grounds?

I agree, Canelo's style is catered for a style like his and Crawfords, but we have seen Boots struggle to avoid punches from lesser competition. This is something the public has seen. So you aren't going to convince me that he was simply just "lighting Canelo up" without taking punishment himself.

Yea, that's the word. The talks are January or February of '26.... But Boots is talking about fighting someone else before then. I just don't trust him and his camp when it comes to the business aspect of the sport. Either he is really trying to structure his career in detail with favorable competition or he really is left out of the negotiation and decision process of his career. Too often we see him claim he will fight anyone, anywhere, but then we hear they turned down an offer to fight 'whoever'. His camp consistently said that fighters were avoiding him, and eventually the fans started asking for the names of those fighters. When he said the names, the truth came out that he never even reached out and/or made an offer...... This man claims that Crawford, Thurman, Spence, Stanionis (he eventually fought him), & Porter all avoided him... But there was zero evidence that he did anything to make the fight happen beyond mentioning their name in front of a camera.

That's the other big talk that not many are really addressing with Canelo. How long will he be active going forward, especially if he so happens to lose next month. I don't want to push anyone out of the sport when they are still competing at a high level, but the reality is, Canelo has a lot of mileage on his gloves for him to be just 35.

20 years as a pro boxer is highly respectable. 67 fights.....

Sugar Boots Ennis has an iron chin, I know he was giving Canelo all sorts of problems. This is the evolved version of Sugar Ray Leonard, he's next up. That footage needs to be released, it's PPV worthy

Um.... You don't know this. Stop it. Let's get off the hype. You aren't in camp so you don't know how well Jaron did in sparring.

Jaron needs to be an evolved version of himself before suggesting he's better than any former great. You can't be next up when you constantly have a new reason on why you can't step up you competition.

I'm trying to have a realistic boxing conversation with you and you are jumping to this Jaron Ennis "leg humping" Fest.

I hope not on both aspects.....

I hate to see fighters compete and until the sport retires them. Walk away on you own terms, with your health in tack.

And I don't want to see him in the ring with Jake Paul. I'm tired of that clown show. A man who has zero respect for the sport and feels his existence is the only reason anyone should pay attention to it. He won't get in the ring with other talents who are trying to grind through the rankings and compete.....he keeps calling out retirees and paying them to "make it look competitive".......as he gains a decision at the end of the night.

Personally, I'll put in too many hours in the gym as a competitor, trainer, and overall fan of the sport for me to respect Jake Paul's actions and outlook on this sport.
