    not remotely.

Jeffries took on his number one contender (as it was generally held) when he was champ. Johnson-Burns was 1 vs 2. Louis was the champ when he met the top contender multiple times. Marciano did it multiple times. Liston-Patterson were the two highest ranked in the world. Ali met multiple number one contenders. Spinks-Tyson was 1 vs 2, Tyson met others. Fury and Wilder were one and two. Dubois and Usyk were one and two.

    Pretty freaky looking hand

Almost every heavyweight in the running for greatness fulfilled this criteria.

It's awful to say to someone already running hot, but you just don't have a good grip of the history.

They hardly ever get criticised, and they haven't been criticised in this thread to my knowledge.

And that was what I said in my post, but you still don’t seem to take issue with the “literal” one versus two thing.

Maybe you should expand it since Lewis, Wlad, Tyson, and Holyfield all competed at the same time but none of them beat the other while at their best.

    No you've mis-understood.

It's about the champion fighting the number one contender, or the two top contenders meeting to form a new lineage.

It has nothing to do with the kind of thing you keep talking about - although it would be interesting to see that done too.

It’s confusing because Wlad did do what you’re alluding to.

Yes, he did, as I said, versus Povetkin, then Pulev.

So if you include Byrd, which makes plenty of sense to me, then he did it three times and that puts him in elite company.

You can't expect two brothers to fight one another.

Wlad/Byrd (II) doesn't meet the criteria. Hence no new lineage formed through this match.

Foreman did it zero times. And he unified zero times unlike Wlad against Byrd. #funfacts

That's the funny thing isn't it? Everyone has Foreman in their top ten and its considered scarliage if you don't. Yet its totally normal to not have Wlad in the top ten despite, by any objective measures, Wlad having a much better career. And none of them can actually defend why.......

Frazier was an “ATG” and so is Norton, everything after that doesn’t count expect Moorer who was undisputed champion in the 2nd Golden age and not basically a lucky break, I don’t even think he was a top 5-7 HW when he had the belt lol… objectively all three of those guys aren’t really spectacular wins, historically yes but beating Norton and Moorer? lol - Frazier was shot or on the downslide… but no he wasn’t because it’s GF’s best win, it’s always “who did XYZ beat compared to Frazier?” I mean H2H Wlad beat some comparable guys he defended his title as defacto HW champ with a reign 2nd to Louis I can’t fault a man for not fighting his brother that’s stupid.

Wlad already beat his eras GF anyway in Samuel Peter… if SP won that fight and then beat Haye he’d basically have achieved the same thing as Foreman lol, based on the Lyle fight I’d actually back the bigger, stronger, better conditioned SP to beat GF in a brawl.

Some of the Biggest Forum Darlings.

    Wilder
    Briggs
    Cleveland Williams.

These guys get picked in a lot of fantasy matchups meanwhile, if you combined each guy's best win and accredited it to a single fighter it wouldn't even add up to a Hof career.

    D. Wilder: "officially" 38 year old Ortiz (4 weeks from being 39)
Shannon Briggs: Sergei Liakovich or 48 year old George Foreman (in a disputed win) take your pick
Cleveland Williams: Ernie Terrell solid win
