Jai Opetaia has maintained he wants to unify at cruiserweight but the reality is, cruiserweights don't want to fight him, let alone the ones with the other belts.

Along comes Turki Al-Sheikh and he wants Opetaia to step straight up to heavyweight and fight Derek Chisora and Turki says he would bankroll what would be the IBF world title eliminator.

    Hmmm...??

Chisora is borderline shot Opetaia brutally retires him

Perhaps not a bad way for Opetaia to fast track an IBF world title shot?

But...Opetaia himself has maintained he wants to unify at cruiserweight.

Opetaia’s manager Mick Francis has asked the IBF where they would place Opetaia if he were to step up to heavyweight right now and the answer was that he would go straight to #3.

I am sure he'll beat Chisora but are we sure he is big enough for heavy?

6ft 2 certainly doesn't make for a big heavyweight. He is an inch shorter than Usyk and has a lesser reach than Usyk as well.

I dare say Opetaia would beat a lot of heavyweights but the big question is, could he beat the very best heavyweights?

Good test for Opetaia though I’d rather he get through Zurdo and Badou Jack first

Suddenly Chisora becomes a valid/good opponent again.
What's the point if this character is supposed to be some amazing talent?
At least fight an older ex champion.
He could call out AJ, why not?
AJ might take it thinking he can blast out a cruiser, and still a champion so a good addition to his resume.
If this character can't beat a past-it AJ he's not going to be an 'elite' HW anyway.
There are plenty of other HW's to call out and fight, also.
Truth is they're worried about being destroyed and losing their brand, as usual.

I'd rather see Bivol step up to cruiserweight and fight Jai than Jai go up to HW.

Jai could make a temporary move to heavyweight and beat up Chisora as a stay busy fight come in around 210 then move back down when the other cruiser weights find their nuts.

Someone won the pursebids for Ajagba Sanchez and the winner will be the #1 contender so perhaps Opetaia will fight them. I always wanted to see how Opetaia handles a big and powerful boxer puncher like Ajagba

If you wanted to finally end Chisora’s career then this is the way you’d do it.

Opetaia is a nasty piece of work, his power will translate perfectly well to heavyweight and he’ll send Chisora out on a gurney.

Usyk was an amazing talent at cruiserweight. Who did he fight first at heavyweight?

Zurdo Ramirez has two of the other belts, has just had a shoulder operation and will be out for months and months. In his absence, the WBO have called for a fight between his #1 & #2 challengers, Billam-Smith and Fress, for the Interim WBO title. You can bet when Zurdo finally resumes, the WBO will be looking to match him with the Interim champion (the winner of Billam-Smith vs Fress). So he won't be available to Opetaia for perhaps a year.

Badou Jack, who has the other belt, is a part timer at best these days and seems to only fight when he feels like it.

No looking too bright at cruiserweight for Opetaia is it?
