Could AJ even beat Marty Marshall?

Liston KO, just a much better boxer.
    Cue AJ
‘Your father used to beat you up, there was unrest, right or wrong?’
I was just too heavy I don’t have a good enough jab

Could a prime Liston beat a last second substitute unranked chubster?

Give Andy Ruiz better technical skills whip him into shape and exchange his hand speed for KO power that's how this fight goes

Liston has the chin and toughness to overcome AJ’s storms, AJ does not.

I think Ruiz probably had better or at least equal technical skill compared to Liston.

He doesn't, he's faster and a better counter puncher, but it's mainly his speed. Liston has better defense and i see him setting up his shots more behind feints and rangy jab. Ruiz doesn't have better footwork. I also think Liston is more versatile in the pocket.

Ruiz is like Tua without that KO power. But Tua actually looked more defensively responsible

    Ruiz had sharper counters.

I'd bet on Liston, quite confidently.
It would actually be a good watch, I think - for a while.
At the same time, I suspect it would be a stark juxtaposition in which we'd see old school applied competence vs the modern version of the textbook in action.
That would be interesting to see.
