September fourteenth in Nagoya, the first boxing event at the brand-new IG Arena. Inoue will defend the IBF, Ring Magazine, and WBA super bantamweight titles each for a fifth time as well as the WBO & WBC titles for a sixth each. Akhmadaliev is the current WBA interim champion.

Inoue at 5′ 5″ tall and 67½″ reach gives up a half inch in both categories to his Uzbek challenger.

    They have one common opponent:
    • Marlon Tanan "Maranding Nightmare" Tapales - defeated Akhmadaliev via SD12 in April of 2023, and lost to Inoue via KO10 in December.

Akhmadaliev is 1-1 in his career taking on fellow Asians (knocking out Inoue's onetime sparring partner Ryosuke Iwasa on home turf, followed by the aforementioned Tapales loss a couple of years later in Texas).

IB funfact: no southpaw opponent of the Japanese incumbent has ever yet reached the championship rounds against him. Inoue is a perfect professional 6-0 (6) versus lefties: Doheny, Nery, Tapales, Dasmariñas, Payano, and Narváez. On average he gets rid of them inside 5 rounds.

Should he retain, Inoue's next date is already lined up 3½ months later: December 27th, vs. Alan David "El Rey" Picasso Romero.

I expect Inoue to be sharp for this one. Looked half asleep before Nery knocked him down. Said he underestimated Cardenas. MJ will present lots of countering opportunities. No need to rush. Wait, uncoil, and...KO. Mid to late.

This MJ might not be The King of Pop but he certainly carries plenty of pop in those fists of his and, as with Inoue, he's a leprechaun with the power of a giant (slight exaggeration, maybe a little more than slight) and you can hear the weight of his shots

I'm picking Inoue to win but he's tasted the canvas in 2 of his last 4 fights and MJ has a KO78% so this is a risky fight for him and one he deserves a lot of credit for should he emerge victorious.

What about MJ's whiskers? Has he ever been hurt or dropped? I don't recall seeing it ever happen but maybe I'm forgetting

Toughest fight of Inoues career, I'm hyped up for this one.

Apparently the Yakuza have snatched up most of the affordable tickets (roughly $68 USD) and begun to resell them at 1300% markups (for over a thousand USD) :ohno

Inoue could have avoided this 1. This is definitely his toughest test and I think its going to be very close. my prediction is inoue in a decision win. Everyone wants a rematch because of it being a great fight and decision controversial in many people's eyes.

I think Inoue wins but this fight has the possibility of an upset. Inoue is getting hit more and has gone down. These bigger guys are able to stand up to his power better and catch his attention.

Could see another Cardenas scenario where it's a back and forth fight until inoue breaks him down

This is the first fight in a while where I put the chances of Inoue by decision being above by KO.
Inoue by decision > Inoue by KO > MJ by KO > draw or incomplete (due to injury) >>>>>>> MJ by decision.

One thing I am quite confident is that if Inoue ever loses, it will be due to a KO punch.
People focus on his power and offensive pressure a lot, but Inoue is a guy that is very hard to win 7 rounds against in a match. Especially considering MJ is a slow starter, I don't expect him winning via decision ever.

I don't think this fight carries the same risk as the Donaire or Fulton fight. Inoue is going to be sharper because of the flash knockdowns of late, and I see him obliterating MJ in the same manner he smoked Nery. It's a decent top 5 guy against a generational P4P ATG, MJ has nothing about him that Inoue should be concerned about.

Hoping a streaming service picks this up in the US. Picked Inoue by decision and expect a good fight
