It's hard to find a similar recent case, as guys like Joshua (16-0) and Spinks (8-0) had won Olympic Gold at the amateurs.

But if you will allow a WBO title winner before the belt really became established, then it is probably 10-1 Michael Bentt who actually beat Tommy Morrison for the belt (derailing a match up with Lennox Lewis). But Bentt too was a good amateur.

To be honest, Itauma shouldn't really be getting a title shot at this stage when guys like Hrgovic are actually beating other contenders on the WBO ladder. Itauma has the #1 ranking because Warren has bought it for him. Same as he tried to do with Dubois before him.

That is a good shout. Either him in '81 or Bentt in '93 (if WBO can be considered)

Yeah fair enough, I would be questioning it as well. I hope Parker is working hard while he waits, doing a full training montage bit, running 10kms and seeing Usyk partying etc.

It almost shocks me that we are pretending that there is a mystery here. Usyk has openly, explicitly said he just had a fight, and he wants to spend time resting with his family. The fact that he wants an extension, and his manager said Parker is next, seems to indicate that Parker will be next, but no, he's not negotiating right now. He's made it clear that it will be done on his time.

You can agree or disagree with his logic and right to think this way, but there isn't any question about what his position is.

WBO has the right to be insistent here

Their rules and their Mando should be followed

If Usyk is not going to come to the table when required, he needs to drop the belt

Yet the same organization are pursing Bivol, who just underwent back surgery, for medical certification?

Again, you are 100% correct in pointing out why it might not be fair, but you are not addressing the point that made, which is that there is no mystery as to what is going on or why. Team Usyk has made their position clear, whether the fans agree with it or not.

The position they've taken is a problem though, right?

It seems like the whole division is holding its breath waiting for Usyk to declare his next steps on the off chance that a shot at a belt comes their way.
He's not bigger than the sport.
He's not bigger than the division.
He's not even bigger than the WBO belt.
Get to the table and negotiate, or drop it. There's nothing stopping that fight being negotiated for a time that suits Usyk.

I think we would all agree that Usyk-Parker in December would be great, and even in March-April would be fine as long as Usyk came to the table now.

That's sure how it seems and The WBO are just sitting on their hands doing nothing about it.

Parker - Wardley in the works according to Dan.
I don't know how accurate this guy is so grain of salt...

Parker is in trouble. They think he's going to school Wardley, but Huni was better than Parker. Wardley by KO
