Ismael Laguna is another great fighters that is almost forgotten. Fantastic skilled boxer and beautiful stylist he was. The prototype version of Eusebio Pedroza except faster and less dirty (most of the time anyways).

    Hilmer Kenty
    Milton McCrory
    Antonio Esparragoza
    Gilberto Roman
    Louie Espinosa

Not all these are necessarily “great” fighters but all had excellent careers and are rarely mentioned here.

Someone beat me to luis Rodriguez, but I will say him again.
If I’m correct he had over 100 fights and beat everyone he ever fought until he boxed Nino Benvenuti, including Griffith, Cokes, Paret and Bennie Briscoe.
He was 1-3 with Griffith and all of the losses were split decisions, does anyone know much about that series ? It looks like they’re on YouTube so I’ll have to have a Griffith-Rodriguez marathon at some point

James Toney kind of stole Michael Nunn's legacy right out from under him.

To an extent, Benitez, who is overshadowed by the fab four.

The likes of Harry Greb, Billy Conn, Stanley Ketchell are always mentioned on here, but I wonder the last time they appeared in mainstream media.

    Jimmy Carter.

Won the lightweight crown 3 times but also lost the title twice and several non-title bouts though usually won the rematch whilst defending his crown.

When on form he was brilliant, true boxer-puncher. Arguably his best performance:
