This is a fight that many fans are talking about since Usyk become undisputed. I made a video about this giving my thoughts, I'm not fanboying either guy just what I think would happen and also touch on why it is difficult to predict as these two fought about half a century apart. Pretty new to making videos on YouTube so there not the most best edited but I just wanted a space to share my thoughts as a lifelong boxing fan. Let me know your thoughts. This content is protected
50/50 at their best. Ali would have to use his feet and right hand counters like he did vs Liston and Mildenberger or he's screwed
Yes pretty much sums it up, Ali technically wasn't as good as Usyk imo I think Usyk would take advantage of this if he couldn't move around as much like post exile. Also Ali didn't throw many body shots which is something I forgot to mention which many would feel is a weakness of Usyk.
Ali obviously had some issues with good jabbers and well rounded boxers. That being said, Usyk has no speed advantage here. Usyk also has no stamina advantage over Ali. Usyk has rarely dealt with speed. There is no comparison between Breidis, Bellew, Gassiev, Fury etc. and Ali in terms of speed. The only notable guy whom i remember being quick was Michael Hunter I would favour Ali 60-40 here. Usyk will struggle to cut the ring vs someone who moves quicker than he does. Usyk's body punching wouldn't slow Ali down given he took body shots from much harder better body punchers like Liston, Frazier, Foreman etc. I think Ali will have a lot of success beating Usyk to the punch and his combination punching is something Usyk has rarely if ever seen. That being said, Usyk's jab, southpaw stance, high stamina etc. will keep the fight extremely competitive. If they fought 3 times, would it shock me if Usyk won one? Not at all. Styles makes fights and Usyk certainly has a style that would cause Ali problems.
That is a good take Usyk hasn't face's someone with the speed and quickness as Ali and there really isn't anyone in this curreny HW division who he could face that would give us a idea of how he will deal with that. I was watching the hunter and mchunu fights back and Usyk was having issues early but he is so consistent that is so hard for anyone to stay with him over the distance.
True. And even Hunter wasn't Ali speed wise. Usyk managed to slow Hunter down with body shots. That doesn't work vs Ali.
