Wlad was knocked down like 3 times against Peter wasn’t he? Peter was powerful sure but if you made footage of him black and white you’d be calling him and his era primitive bums. Liston and Foreman are far more intelligent than Peter and will have many more opportunities to land. Wlad is smarter than both men but that can only get you so far as such a huge target as the Peter fight demonstrated.

Brewster didn’t weigh much more than Liston or George did either, you can argue that Wlad got smarter sure but he was 28, didn’t physically mature more afterward, and was a year before he got dropped consecutively by Peter. The man changed, the chin did not.

 

Wlad could also hurt them as well in particular Liston. Foreman yeah his chin was proven to be great but he was hurt multiple times in 70s himself by Ali and Young who have respectable power but aren't the biggest punchers.

 

Liston was like what, 22 when Marshall broke his jaw? In some fights around the period Marshall beat him, Liston was weighing as low as 198 pounds within the year he lost to Marshall and was 204 pounds when Marshall beat him, compared to the 212-215 pounder he would later become once he reached his peak. Clearly there was a lot of physical development to be had, compared to Wlad who was 28 years old and 243 pounds when Brewster beat him which is what he would often weigh at during his peak including the Brewster rematch. Liston was also damn near 40 when Martin knocked him out.

 

Young and Ali didn’t have him considerably hurt until he was exhausted form what I remember, and Sonny took some solid bumps from Williams in both fights who, while I find disgustingly overrated in these parts, was a genuine puncher. Not a Wlad sized puncher but it shows that he had a chin.

I won’t deny Wlad could hurt them though, especially when George gets reckless. I actually think Liston would be a tougher nut to crack.

professional fight.
The CW you are referring to is Leotis Martin.Martin was an extremely hard puncher ( so-called cruiserweights can punch hard by the way ).
Liston suffered this ko when he was way past his peak.
Did I mention Wlad being KO'd by Lamon Brewster and Corrie Sanders.

It means the examples you used are not really relevant to the matchup nor are they equatable to the example that the person who you replied to used of Wlad getting knocked out by Brewster. Wasn’t the whole basis of your reply to spreadeagle that Wlad would starch Liston cuz Marshall broke his jaw and that Martin starched him?

I don’t think we have conclusive proof of how a prime Liston’s chin would react to Wlad’s power. What I do know is that it wouldn’t be in Wlad’s best interest to try and be aggressive to pursue a knockout as it puts him in the line of fire against a fire better technician than both Brewster and Peter who both seriously hurt him.

 

I'm just saying doesn't seem likely that he can based on what we know Liston never fought a hard hitting SHW like Wlad. Wlad fought plenty of hard punchers like Liston.

 

But none as good at economizing their power as Liston, which of the hard hitters Wlad fought would you say are better technicians than Sonny aside from Povetkin who he clinched to death rather than fought? Sonny’s a good deal longer than Pov as well, I wouldn’t be surprised if Pov managed to have success hurting Wlad without the borderline criminal amount of cuddling.

 

You're way overrating Liston he was good fighting smaller guys who stood in front of him not SHW who were faster and can fight him at range.
