October twenty-ninth in Manila, PI. WBC minimumweight title on the line, third defense of Jerusalem. Kuse is rated #2 by the WBC, #5 by Ring Magazine, and #7 on BoxRec at 105lbs. The southpaw from Eastern Cape is a former South African titlist at straw, and the current WBC Silver titlist.
Melvin Jerusalem will keep his WBC Belt by UD but interesting fight even if I will prefer a unification against Pedro Taduran the other Filipino world champion at 105 lbs...
If BoxRec is correct, Kuse started his professional career at the age of 15. He's done much better since he became an adult post-COVID. That being said, beating Jerusalem is a bridge, or two, too far. MJ is still fighting at a high level and should take this one comfortably.
Yeah...you can consider Kuse's last two victories (over unbeaten countryman Beaven Sibanda, plus to a much greater extent former IBF mandatory contender Sam Salva) to be upsets, but Jerusalem is a whole 'nother level. If this one goes sideways, it means either MJ is shot or Kuse is legit, or a little of both.
