I'm going to assume we're talking about his prime, such as during the decade long title reign.

You mean in the one where he got hit a bunch despite his "exemplary" head movement. He moves his head well at times but still gets hit plenty for a technician.

But you haven't. You rarely, if ever do.

The biggest irony here is that you committed a logical fallacy - argument from ignorance - immediately before wrongly accusing someone else of fallacious reasoning.

You leaning on the fact that Liston never fought a modern SHW, as if that alone were proof he couldn’t succeed, is what you use as justification for calling him “overrated.”

That’s a classic case of flawed logic and, usually, this wouldn’t have mattered much. Strong opinions stated as assertions are common in forum debates. But, once you invoked the “logical fallacy” card, your own reasoning became fair game - and, honestly, it doesn't hold up.

What you’re calling “explained reasoning” is just an unproven generalization. So, either provide the technical breakdown you’ve demanded of others - or accept that you’ve just delivered another self-own (something you should be getting used to, by now).

If you actually bothered to read my original post you would know that's wrong so let me spell it out since you can't actually comprehend basic logic. I made my argument and provided a reason for it based on a short technical analysis that's not just based on SHW which you clearly missed. So far no one has actually responded to it besides saying Liston is good and bringing up 0 technical analysis. So I'll wait for a technical analysis that I can then respond to. You're welcome to do that (we both know you're too ignorant of actual boxing to be capable of that bit hey surprise me). One more thing since you and Pugguy seem to have the same habit (just a coincidence I'm sure.....) declaring something true doesn't actually make it true. Just some friendly advice ;)

Probelem is Peter’s isn’t half as skilled as Liston. Liston had a better jab, head movement, stamina was ten x better, etc, I think though at his best Wlad wins a decision but if you replace Peters w Liston he isn’t loosing: Wlads chin was still being adjusted after getting knocked out

Sure but you don’t need much skill when you hit as hard as Peters and he was good at landing his punches even against skilled defensive fighters (Toney) as well as having a chin to take clean shots from Wlad over and over. Would Liston be able to tank shots just to land his own like Peters did? Not to mention this is before Wlad's title reign and when he really came to his own as a boxer as shown in the second fight where Peters couldn't do anything.

"CHARLES (SONNY) LISTON v was on cortisone for five days immediately prior to his ill-fated title defense on Feb. 25, according to a report released Tuesday by the Senate Antitrust and Monopoly subcommittee. prepared by the State's attorney's office of Dade county, the report quoted Liston's adviser and personal physician as saying that Listen also was under going physiotherapy for pains in his left, arm for an 8 day Period before the fight. The Miami boxing Commission was not notified of the treatment, the report said. After the fight, according to the report, Dr. Lester Russin and other doctors at Miami's St. Francis Hospital confirmed Liston's injury as an inflamed tendon in his left arm. Dr. Russin was quoted as saying the condition was "particularly prevalent In older athletes.

"The report said that Dr. Russin estimated Liston's actual age as between 38 and 41. The former champion has listed himself as 30 years old."

Also, it's clear as day, there's a scar on Liston's shoulder during the second fight with Ali.

Cortisone is a PED, chief. Manny was on the same class of drugs when he fought Floyd and he had a worse injury than Liston, which is why he did elective surgery after the fight.

But Manny didn't quit; he got 8-4'd or 9-3'd which as good as could have ever done against a decent version of Floyd.

Well - I cannot speak for @Pugguy but, as far as I am concerned, you're the last person that should be talking about THE truth when just about everybody by now knows that you are one of those afflicted types who are only interested in YOUR truth, no matter how false it may be.

So, you'll understand if I find the "friendly advice" a little absurd - coming from you - a weak-minded individual whose capacity for belief perseverance means you're only of any use to an accommodating echo chamber and of absolutely no use to honest debate.

I only responded to you earlier because you were blatantly misrepresenting the argument of another poster and clearly had no idea what you were talking about.

And, by the way, this is your original post (i.e., your first post in this thread).

    What this amounts to is:
    - Wlad keeps them at range - Assumed.
    - They get hesitant once they taste his power - Speculated.
    - Then he picks them off and gets a late stoppage - Predicted, based on nothing more than size bias.

You do not break down styles, offensive armories, tempo, footwork, generalship, guard dynamics, punch resistance, infighting, or the scope of potential tactical adjustments. You offered an outcome forecast, not a technical analysis.

What you have written has been responded to several times already by posters in this thread, in one form or another, as well as by the poll numbers. It does not need a "technical analysis" in response.

So, I am now reminded of why I put you on ignore in the first place - what seems an eternity ago now. And, despite you following me around like a little lost chihuahua pup that doesn't know where to **** for the past few months, there has been relative peace on this forum (for me, at least).

But attention-seeking is your deal. It has been from the outset. I asked you last time to try not to stalk anyone, but you did anyway. So, I guess it's up to me to just ignore you for good now.

    Cheers.

Calling cortisone a PED in Liston’s case is misleading and factually wrong. Cortisone is a therapeutic treatment for inflammation—it does not enhance strength or endurance like anabolic steroids. And it’s particularly disingenuous coming from a doctor, who should know the difference between pain management and performance enhancement. Liston was clearly managing a documented, serious tendon injury, not trying to cheat.

Clearly living rent free in your head.

Plenty of space to let there I guess.

Could’ve at least tagged me in properly.

Just some friendly observations and advice. ;)
