Thomas or Tucker, which was the best all round fighter?

And who wins between em?. Both at they're best?

Thomas for both. Tucker had some nice pieces of the puzzle but never quite seemed to be able to put them together. He never seemed like the finished product Thomas appeared to be.

Thomas was briefly the better fighter when both were prime. Tucker had greater longevity though and was still moderately affective in the early 90s

    Yep agree with that.
In a fight with both prime I'd give it to Pinky.
He had that brilliant jab, tho Tucker's wasn't bad either.
It's a real shame Thomas ended up the way he did.

Fortunately Pinklon got clean and from what I’ve read is doing better these days. Was helping troubled teens for a while. Hope he lives a long life. Tony Tucker had amazing potential though. He was very mobile for a big guy. Was durable with stamina and a decent punch. Skills weren’t too bad either. But too much of his career was squandered fighting journeyman and trial horse opposition

I say Tucker was much better. He was a beast, something like 34-0, a good boxer. Very athletic. He looked very good to me in the videos I have seen. IMO he would have been Tyson's toughest opponent at heavyweight, but broke his right hand pre-fight, and decided to take the fight anyways, too much money was involved. As I recall, he did the rope-a-dope all night, and did not appear worse for wear and tear after the fight.

Both exceptional fighters. I perceived Thomas as the economical stylist and Tucker as the more dynamic of the two (and a bit of a powerhouse if allowed to pick up a bit of momentum).

This is one of those strange situations where the more accomplished fighter is likely to get beaten by the guy with the weaker ledger.

Thomas ended up being the more proven and, for a very brief moment, was considered by some to be the best in the world, until Berbick happened (followed by Tyson). But I'd have backed Tucker to beat him.

IMO Tucker had loads more natural talent (and the vastly superior amateur career - 115-6, compared with Pinky's mere 3-1) but not the discipline.

A dedicated and injury-proof TNT could have been a force. As it stands, Thomas goes down as greater.

115-6 amateur record, yet they took forever to get him in with a live opponent in his pro career. Seems like Broad was his first kind of solid opponent, and that was 34 fights in. Anybody else see this as questionable management? Not sure the reasoning for moving him along so slowly.

Pinky. He just lost it very quickly from heroin addiction, which is much worse than even crack.

Thomas was the better fighter, comfortably. His win over a prime in shape Witherspoon is terribly underrated. He also KO's Weaver, stopped Tillis and drew Coetzee in his coming out party. Tucker compiled a lot of wins over very ordinary fighters. He had some talent, but i found him a touch bland.

His KO of Weaver was impressive. Pinky seemed at that time to have an elite chin. Weaver bounced some bombs on Thomas but he didnt budge.

And remember how he took the shots from a prime Tyson, that was a tough guy.

He did have an elite chin. He soaked up some bombs from Coetzee as well, and whenever Witherspoon caught him hard he came straight back at him. His chin was as good as anyone's for quite a few years.

Thomas just because he tried to win more.
