1. The point is that Liston quit with a shoulder injury that didn't require surgery. Manny fought without serious issue and was nowhere near quitting against Floyd despite having a shoulder injury that resulted in elective surgery after the fight. The assumption is that Liston quit for reasons that extended far beyond an injury.
2. He was given PEDs but still quit.
