I agree, Duran is one of my favorites, I consider him and Mayweather the most skilled boxers ever, but Duran's losses are treated as if the weather was just bad that day and his resume is a bit thinner than most people make it out to be.

 

Duran is the best I have seen in my lifetime.

I'm sure you rate guys like Archie Moore low for the same reason. As long as you're consistent and put Wlad ahead of him for having fewer loses than him in his fifty fights, I'm okay with it.

 

Wlad was undisputed once Vitali vacated the WBC belt.

As for whining about Wlad not fighting Vitali, that shows more about your level of dishonesty than anything. Go ahead and name some brothers who fought each other.

I don't think you understand how undisputed works. You need to hold all the belts at the same time. He never did that.

No one is "whining". If it's true they promised their mom they wouldn't fight, that's an honorable thing. But history and legacy doesn't care about honor, an athlete is rated based on what they've actually done (or didn't do). In his case, he never proved he was the #1 HW throughout his reign and never became undisputed even when Vitali was out of the picture. He needs to live with that, not me.

 

If the belt is not in dispute, it's undisputed. Wlad was undisputed. Next.

 

Did he have all 4 belts at the same time, yes or no?

Did he ever prove to be the #1 fighter of his era, yes or no?

Opinion 1: Wlad unified several belts, was lineal, and had been the top heavyweight for about a decade. He was undisputed during the period when he was the only heavyweight to hold any belt.

Opinion 2: Jose and Maruricio thought it would be cool to let a Mexican American get a crack at their belt instead of handing it to Wlad. Nobody actually had it for awhile, but the thought of a Chris Arreola fighting for it is a legitimate means to diminish Wlad’s legacy.
