Will 1997 Lennox Lewis see the last bell vs prime Louis?

We are talking about two of the top 5 or 6 heavyweights of all time. Either man can win a fight like that. Lewis has a lot going for him in this matchup but prime Joe is a tough ask of just about anyone. When do the tickets go on sale?

Lennox would blast him out early, so no,he wouldn't be going the distance with Joe.

He could very well win, in fact most would probably favour him and there's no shame in that. Joe's never fought a super heavy as skilled as Lennox and Lewis is arguably the most skilled super heavy of all time. It's quite a step up compared to the Buddy Baers, Abe Simons and Primos.

However, it's not like LL is some invincible demigod that Joe can't possibly be competitive with like many posters on here would also think. Lewis struggled plenty with Mercer as well as a 37 year old Holyfield in their rematch who wasn't that much bigger than the Louis who bulked up against super heavys, and was nowhere near as hard hitting as Joe was. However, he was also not as durable as EH, though had elite recovery.

The first fight is anyone's game but I think the rematch would go to Louis. I find it hard to see Lennox not getting stunned or dropped across a 12 or 15 rounder and when he does can he recover against such a deadly finisher considering he didn't get up the two (I think) times he's been dropped? He has plenty to hurt Louis with but Joe is genuinely as hard to keep down as any man in boxing history and, as defensively sound as Lewis is, he is still a very big target and Louis would find opportunities to land something big eventually. If he can't and it ends up going to the cards, odds are LL takes it.

Lewis would have far too much reach and power for Louis.

Louis was from a different era as constituted he could not match Lewis’ height weight reach power strength. Coupled with Lewis’ great boxing skill. Afraid Louis would be stopped depending on how aggressive he was. The more aggressive the faster he’d be stopped.

I believe he absolutely could match Lewis' weight. I believe only people with a very fast metabolism believe otherwise.

Yes… he could.. and perhaps even beat Joe Louis. Although I wouldn’t make either too big or too little of an underdog.
