    Like the original Tyson.

Tyson Fury has an excellent resume , but Mike Tyson reign as undisputed champion was more comprehensive ,a lot more universally feared and more consistent.
The gypsy king was never really seen as the one true king, something mike achieved very early on.

I think he was briefly undisputed after beating Klitschko. But then taking that long time off diminished his claim a bit. He sort of redeemed himself after beating wilder but then the flat performances and inactivity came back. Thing is, Fury could have had the whole division in the bag if he were serious. Let’s say that right after beating Wlad he devoted himself to training and taking on the best fighters at least two times per year from 2016 onward. The man could have unified and racked up a dozen title defenses before Usyk came around . And even then he might have had a chance of beating Usyk because the momentum never went away . In either case he had the potential to be a top 10 ATG but he let himself stagnate.

    That's it!
He won the title, then went away.
Yes beating wilder was an achievement but he never showed total dominance in most of his fights.
I really think if he'd taken him self a little more seriously and his boxing career, then it could have been different.

He had everything. Size, chin, skill. Even some moderate punching power, though I wouldn’t call him a huge puncher. But I definitely think that if he had given 100% of himself he could have dominated the division from 2016 to around 2023 or 2024.

I think he could’ve beaten everyone until Usyk had he stayed in shape throughout. Even then, I think a younger Fury vs. a younger Usyk would be very competitive. Damn close to a pick em

Only problem is that Fury is a mentally unstable, volatile man who never had the mind to be consistent for long.

he was Bought Up & Marketed as far back as McDermott & Price without showing either skill or anything extra, he was a GIANT Singing Gypsie who's schtick was weak, unfunny & British School Boy lad patter...

the Monie men grabbed him, marketed him, put him into position & protected him. He is 3rd rate and that's it.

he couldn't dominate a pizza nevermind 3rd tier mortally wounded Boxing / cough, cough HW's - S-HW Subs.

No fault of his, just the facts.

    No he didn't.

He probably could have done if he hadn't spent three years trying to eat himself to death, but that's another story.

His ducking ruined everyones careers so he dominated it in a way. Just not in a boxing ring.

Fury taking those years off after winning the belt is something that from a logistical standpoint the HW division has not recovered from as 9/8/25. Nearly 10 years later. It just cascaded into chaos more chaos and kept going.

He was in part his own worst enemy, and in part unlucky.

Retiring after the Klitschko fight was ruinous to his legacy, because he was at his absolute peak, and he had the division at his mercy.

When he finally got his act together three years later, he was unlucky in two respects.

Firstly that the pandemic took more of his best years away, and secondly that the ridiculous draw in the first Wilder fight, made the series for to an entirely unnecessary trilogy.

It should have been first fight Fury decision, second fight Fury domination, job done.

Then when he was released from the Wilder trilogy, he became his own worst enemy again.

He took an entirely unwarranted third fight against Chisora, and then we had the farce against Nganou, and all the while the clock was ticking for him.

When he came up against Usyk, fair enough wasn't good enough.

Even today if Usyk retired, he could probably be champion again, but he will have a narrow window of opportunity, and he will not be able to afford the mistakes of the past.

    Pretty much this.

Fury had plenty of potential for a solid top 10 spot, but squandered his prime and was quite the underachiever in many ways. It wasn't just the inactivity, he failed to face so many of the biggest names of his era similar to guys like Bowe.

The draw against Wilder wasn't luck, he simply couldn't close the show and got hurt too much. It was his own fault and he shouldn't have been getting tagged so much by the supposedly "unskilled" Wilder.

No one in boxing history ever took the title from the champion after the champion knocked them down in 2 different rounds while also failing to score any knockdowns of their own.

Fury exposed just how overrated Wilder is/was. Wilder was feasting on journeymen and hype-jobs for 39 fights until he met someone bigger and stronger than him. Fury was never great. At 6'9" and 270ish he was mobile for a man his size with good reflexes. He will likely never win another meaningful fight if he competes again, though if he comes in at his best he can beat AJ for a huge payday.
