That was one incompetent referee. Up until the very last second it didn't even look like there was a referee in the ring.

 

And where was his corner? Can't imagine watching on as a guy I trained took that kind of punishment.

Not sure. Yeah Meldrick was in bad shape but there was already enough controversy with it being stopped when it was. Exactly two more seconds and boxing history would look very different today
