If Canelo manages to beat Crawford either by decision or stoppage would you consider this a huge win for him that shouldn't be discredited? It seems as if this was considered a lose-lose situation for Canelo initially where people wrote this off automatically due to the weight class disparity but now with the fight getting closer more people are convinced by Crawford's chances on winning. Surely Canelo deserves full credit should he pull off a win? Of course it all depends on how the fight plays out and if the scorecards are fair should it go the distance.

I will give him some credit, as Crawford is a P4P fighter, but not more than I would give him for beating top contenders in his division. Similar to the credit I gave Bivol for beating Canelo.

Bivol legitimately deserves full credit for beating Canelo, especially after nearly being robbed on the scorecards.

If Canelo, legit beats Crawford, then he deserves full credit for beating a generational talent who is still competing at the highest level. Crawford by all accounts, has put on the muscle while losing minimum reflexes and agility in order to compete at this weight. The IQ alone puts this win above much of his competition over his career, especially recently. Canelo finding a way to actually beat Crawford deserves praise..... I mean actually beating him, not getting rewarded by judges whom are going to choose Canelo regardless of the action in the ring.

Yeah, but he beat him in his division. That's the comparison.

Shouldn't Canelo win this fight. His opponent has come up 2 weight classes. It's Canelo's fight to lose. I would be impressed if Crawford even manages to make it competitive.

I'm not sure what "full credit" means. He will get credit for beating a top fighter who moved up a couple of weight classes to try to win a title at another weight class. If that is full credit then my answer is yes.

He gets credit for beating a guy who moved up two weight classes. Just like when EVERYONE gave full credit to Canelo for Khan and 3G for Kell

Full credit as in devoid of any kind of asterisk or compromise that diminishes the victory.

Of course. Especially if its an outclass, which I doubt it will be. I could see Crawford going down then playing it really safe the rest of the fight. Id be surpirsed if its not close either way. The judges are another story.

Canelo lost any credit when he popped twice for Clenbuterol.

There’s plenty of instances where guys moved up 2 weights and won. Hell look at Spinks vs Holmes.

I'll give Canelo credit when he:

    Rematches Bivol
    Fights Beterbiev
    Fights Benavidez

Canelo is a cherrypicker who uses his promotional connections to essentially have crooked referees and judges in his pocket.

Credit for...beating a guy jumping up from two division below within a fortnight of his 38th birthday?

It's kind of lose-lose for Canelo. He burned himself by waiting this long to again fight somebody that was top 5 p4p ranked (really he's only done so 3-4 times in 67 bouts, hasn't he? - Mayweather, GGG I & III, and Bivol - losing arguably all four fights...)

Because of the amount of people picking Crawford to win, he deserves credit..

Sadly, you know that’s not what will happen.

Does Hagler get credit for beating Leonard and Duran?… well many say he beat Leonard at least… I disagree, but you get the point, hes given lots of credit for competing with these guys, and considered one of the “4 kings” of whom the other 3 spent their best years between 135-147….

Does Hopkins get credit for beating ODLH and Tito?

A lot of the hate for Canelo is justified due to his clearly not taking the absolute best opponents he could, but there’s also a clear double standard.
