I agree it's a lose lose situation but I disagree with just about everyone regarding the "Crawford is a smaller fighter" myth. Crawford is taller than Canelo and has a longer reach. Bud has been draining down to Zombie level emaciation and normally walks around at 170-180. So I don't go along with the "smaller" issue.

He gets credit in the sense that he's finally fighting an opponent better than the Ryder / Berlanga / Scull level of opponents we've been used to seeing him beat in first gear

But ultimately Crawford is coming up 3 divisions higher than his best weight and his best wins are Postol, shot Porter, and shot car-crash Spence. Welterweight Crawford wouldn't be a particularly standout win frankly. Even just looking at what Canelo has achieved in the 168lb division, breaking Saunders' face with one punch was more impressive, and totally shutting out 6'4 lineal champion Callum Smith 120-108 was more impressive.

Some credit, but not all of it. For obvious reasons.

I'm sorry but walking around weight is not fighting weight.

If a boxer can walk around at 180 and not look fat, which Craw didn't, then it means he can be in top shape 15 pounds lighter.

If Craw looked like Andy Ruiz walking around at 180 then yeah, my point is moot. But he looked ok. He also looked in shape at 154. He puts on 10 pounds properly with good nutrition? He'll be fine.

I'll point out again that he looked bad and emaciated at 140 and rail thin at 147.

I do think he should have had a tune up at say 160 but then this match would have disappeared. Gotta grab the brass ring and opportunity when you can.

Well yeah. The fight is kind of similar to Monzon-Napoles. And Monzon received credit for the victory.

And also Lomachenko vs Rigondeaux. Interestingly Loma has received either full credit for the win or almost no credit from his detractors arguing about the weight difference. Seems like we might see a similar split reaction if Canelo were to win.

Mosley against DLH too. I don't think the size disparity is going to be that much of a factor IMO. I think Crawford has a good chance.

No this is a circus fight and I can't believe how many hard cores on this site are actually buying into it.

Another reason why Loma is such a legend he didn't even want credit for the win he only took the fight because Top Rank wanted it.
