Jeison Rosario, Kudratillo Abdukakhorov, Jarrett Hurd, Zou Shiming, Meng Fanlong, Alexander Dimitrenko, Louis Toutin, Zhang Junlong, Kotaro Sekine, Samuel Kadje.

They comes immediately to my mind.

 

That’s awesome. Tell your old man he made some fans in his day who still remember and relished watching him fight.

Anytime I saw Teddy Hatfield was on the card, we knew we’d be entertained and that he’d bring it all.

 

I agree Tex was tough as they come. With that said the thought of him taking Cooney's lefthook more than a few times is almost something i wouldn't want to see.

 

Razor Ruddock and David Tua.

 

If you know them, there's a 90% chance they were at least good. I'm partial to Chilemba, David Price, Tony Thompson, Librado Andrade, Sebastian Lujan, Andrey Fedosov, Kid Monk Baroni, etc. Too many to name who weren't a big deal but pretty cool.

 

Wilfredo Gomez is my favorite boxer and was an all time great.

But technically speaking, he really wasnt that good, to be honest. He could have been much better if not for his technical deficiencies.

The way he came in with those hands held low was perfect for a technically sound, well prepared fighter like Salvador Sanchez to beat him which is exactly what happened.

Nope,I believe he was well rounded skill wise,can fight going forward or boxing you from a distance.

Sal was just too superior,and bigger, that's all.

 

Weaver is one of the best heavyweights of the 80's. I don't think he can be described as "not that good".

he was very good. but any punch had him on the floor.

and his name was so stupid. amir = king ,king is king, khan = king.

his name was king king king. prob deserved to get knocked out so many times.

I can see guys like J.J. Hughes John the heat Verdarosa who were very entertaining but not that skilled being on here but not the first six names. Pretty harsh!

 

I would put a vote in for all the local fighters from our hometowns in our youth who got ink from the papers and whom we followed with the hopes that they would "strike it rich" and rise to world title status. It was a different time in the 70's when I was growing up, getting to follow Indianapolis guys like Slammin' Sammy NeSmith or Gary Guiden or Rick Enis who got lots of pub on the newscasts and build fan support. So I vote for those guys, even though they were good enough to slip into the Top 10 rankings for a cup of coffee. I'm sure all you guys have some of these names from your hometowns too.

Another vote for Tom "Roughhouse" Fischer in my avatar who was the house fighter in Dayton getting pushed for a decade. Got a few big fights, but never cracked through to the national level.
