If they both retired today, would Joshua or Fury have the better legacy?

Curiously, does that mean you rate Buster Douglas higher than say someone like Tim Witherspoon?
I'm not saying you do just asking as an example as in title defences and unifications, Joshua has overall done more but the Wladimir win was a big away win against a reigning champion for Fury

 

That's a really tough one because on the face of it, both won world titles and lost them immediately. Though Tim won another one and defended it once. Buster's win was kind of a high card though. Even though he lost immediately and basically that was his career and Tim won, lost eventually won again then lost again but his overall career was really pedestrian and I'd say not much better than Buster's.

Yeah you kinda backed me into a wall admittedly, that's a hard for me to answer

I'd go Tim I guess.......................ask me next week I'd probably say Buster

It's a tough one and that's why I asked as I see it sort of similar with Joshua/Fury.
Fury had the big win but Joshua I think did more, but it sort of balances for me

For example
Fury and Joshua won their first world titles Nov 2015 and Apr 2016
So within 6 months of each other
Come the end of 2018

Fury made 0 defences and was 1-0-1 in world title fights

Joshua made 6 defences won 2 unification bouts was 7-0-0 in world title fights

Even now in title defences

Fury - Wilder, Whyte, Chisora

Joshua - Wladimir, Parker, Povetkin, Pulev, Breazeale, Takam, Molina

Fury for me. Dethroned Wlad and Wilder both away from home.

 

Fury has the better wins, when you look at the history books his wins over Wilder and the first Wlad fight are better than anything AJ has done or will ever do in the sport. Also he was the undisputed lineal champion, whereas AJ was only ever another belt holder.

I doubt anyone if they both retired today is going to rank AJ above Fury in 10 years time. Its pretty clear cut actually.

You rate them on those objective facts.

I am not sure the manner of defeats really plays into it even. But AJs losses to Dubois and Ruiz Jr were worse defeats than any loss Fury has ever suffered.
