When is the first BBC show? I heard rumours a while ago of a British heavyweight title fight at the end of this month but that can’t be happening now.

I really like Azim, however the main problem now is that the type of fights he should be having at this stage of his career arent the type of fights that will naturally endear him to the casual fans he is likely to encounter on BBC. If he had turned pro on BBC he would of done very well and gained a following knocking out lesser opponents. Similar to how Matchroom did when they had sky with people like AJ, Brook, Smith etc.

At this stage he really needs to be fighting durable fighters that will ask him questions but still be lesser skilled than him. Those fights are important but typically not entertaining for your casual fan.

Also I do feel that the whole boxxer/sky deal was doomed from the start, it kind of felt like sky felt they had to offer boxing but werent really enthusiastic compared to how they were with Matchroom. Probably lots of reasons for that tbh.

So Ben was at the conference yesterday. Barring 1 little segment on DAZN with Eddie.

He doesnt appear to have been interviewed.

Surely if his new venture was good he might talk about it?

Azim pissing away his career being stuck with Shalom. He could sign with any promoter in the world, but he wants to end up at the BBC as the entire sport heads to global streaming platforms—odd decision.

It could work for him. He's potentially going to enjoy far more exposure via free to air broadcasting. Could help him build a big fan base?

Bunce asked him on the podcast. Blamed new ways of working with the BBC for delays but "hoped" to have cards later this year. Bunce let on that he was invovled too.

Well I don't live in the UK so I don't even know how I can watch his fights live. Maybe 20 years ago it would've been a good move, but I don't see how it works in the modern media environment.

Assuming Boxxer are still associated with Turki and co. beyond Eubank v Benn, there’s the potential he only fights for the Saudi money and profile on Riyadh Season/Ring cards rather than turning up on the BBC.

Don't rush to judgment. International streaming rights may be announced in time. However for those in the UK this will be a relatively rare opportunity to watch a boxer on free to air broadcast TV. It could be a clever move to take a different path to most UK fighters who are only viewable via an app with a relatively small reach?
