You do know that you're replying to a post that was made 15 years ago and the poster hasn't been seen in 7 years.

Walcott- Charles-Moore- Layne- etc. all had one thing in common- they were never the same fighter after their guiling beatings they took from Marciano - no one was ever the same- Moore was able to be competitive based on his IQ and vast experience but was never physically the same after RM beat down. Cus knew Marciano was all wrong for Floyd thus keeping him in the Lightheavys until Rocky retired.

One thing we know about Marciano is he loved money. A Marciano-Patterson fight would probably have been staged in New York, either in Yankee Stadium or the Polo Grounds, and if not a sellout it would have made huge dough for the Rock. Why did he turn his back on what probably would've been the biggest grossing fight of his career? I think he retired because he knew he had started to slip and he didn't want to spoil his perfect record. He said he was retiring so he could spend more time with his family. Rocky, don't make me laugh! Once you were retired for a little while you couldn't wait to hit the road in search of something fresh. Fighters are some of the biggest liars and in this instance you're no exception. Sure, I believe you when you say you couldn't stand Al Weill. But you loved money more than you hated Al.

D'Amato started calling Marciano out in January 1956 - after his last fight but before anyone knew he was going to retire. Patterson had just turned 21, he was outgrowing the light heavyweight division, and he was coming off a one-sided win over Jimmy Slade (a career light heavyweight but, at the time, ranked 5th at heavyweight on the back of his win against Tommy Jackson).

And then so are you. Commenting on a chat brings it back to the top and opens it up again for people to weigh in what’s the problem?

When you are already 107 years old (or train of pie and naps like Layne) this tends to happen.

I know it's a 15-year-old OP, but to answer the question, Floyd is competitive in 1956 and probably slices Rocky's face to ribbons, but loses. After that if Rocky comes back as was supposedly discussed, an old man with a bad back, Floyd beats him up and he doesn't have the 0 in the loss column.

Patterson’s handlers never would have matched them together. Marciano would have been to much in 56.

Steve, it's not about resurrecting an old thread. Posters here do it all the time. But you were replying - and being obnoxious - directly to a poster that hasn't been here in 7 years. What I'm saying is, slow it down, man. You're all over this Forum being real nasty to some very knowledgeable posters. Be a part of it. Show some humility and join in. Every one of your posts is confrontational. Just chill.

Almost positive it's that Neils Probst guy or whatever his name was. Dude had an obsession with disparaging Marciano at every turn.

Sounds like it’s about liking people instead of the facts. You need to watch Marciano vs Moore 55. Then watch Patterson vs Moore 56 like I have. After that tell me why you would think Marciano is such a god and Patterson a mediocre champ in comparison.

It’s a still just a post making a point that some may react to. Come on relax it’s all fun everyone just giving their opinions. The fact that you might not like my take on things well I’m sorry buddy but that's why these chats exist.
