If we are talking post Floyd era Oleksandr Usyk Terence Crawford Nayoa Inoue I think these 3 are in a bracket of their own. Put them in whatever order you want i dont believe theres a right or wrong. All a matter of opinion but i dont think anyone else has done enough to be seated at their table. I think only a loss for either would sort of cement places with age and past their prime at the time of the loss being completely disregarded. However were they all to retire today, undefeated, i still have Usyk as my number 1, Crawford as my 2, Inoue 3. I think Inoue certainly has the most room to keep adding whereas Bud & Usyk seem to be out of options to enhance their legacy now.
I think you can, and I do. Usyk is an amazing fighter but with the best will in the world, past his best or not, the names of Fury and AJ do not carry the same weight as Canelo's. We can debate if a younger Canelo would beat Crawford but remember, Bud is older than Canelo. Undisputed at three weights, an ATG name on his record, and in the argument as a pound for pound ATG in my opinion.
The Canelo he beat was well past his best. The likes of Fury, AJ and Briedis were far more dangerous than current Canelo.
Canelo is nowhere close to ATG. He was shutout by Mayweather. Could you imagine Tommy Hearns being shutout by Floyd?
The only reason Usyk isnt undisputed in 3 divisions is because hes already reached the pinnacle of the sport. Usyk did everything as the B-Side in his opponents backyard. But Crawford is an ATG, absolutely.
Being shut out by Floyd, who is one of the finest ever to lace them up, doesnt preclude him from being an ATG in my mind. I think that was Floyd's signature performance, and one that is always written off because Floyd 'fought him at the right time'. Mayweather has a greatness that Crawford, Canelo and yes, Usyk can only dream of...
It kind of does preclude you when considering that Canelo has been dominated by every elite fighter hes fought.
Only beaten and dominated by Bivol and Mayweather, up till last night, two giants of the game. Whilst he may have lost against GGG in fight one, he certainly wasn't dominated. Hey man, we will have to agree to disagree on this. For what it is worth, and I think you can make a similar point about both Usyk and Crawford, I do agree his record does not have consistent signature wins, or fights, but he has always dared to be great. Kovalev and Bivol are monsters, and if he is any student of boxing I suspect he knew Crawford was all wrong for him. He doesnt have a record like Leonard, Hearns etc, but who does? You can only beat who is in front of you, or lose to them, and he dominated his divisions for many years and in my opinion would have competed on his best day in any era... Good to chat, thanks for your thoughtful answers. Peace and love, Px
So i agree mostly. There isnt a fighter from this era like say RJJ or Pacquiao who has pulled off wins that are among the very best of all time.
Give me break. Usyk isn't even the best heayweight of all time. Crawford has a legit argument to be ranked on the level of Ray Robinson. He practically just erased Floyd.
Arguable. Canelo has still beaten every man he's fought since Bivol. Compare this to Fury who in his fight preceeding Usyk arguably got a gift against 0-0 Ngannou and has been unwilling to fight anyone since. Some would argue Joshua wasn't the same post Ruiz. Breidis, no arguments there. But even then, none of the fighters mentioned although they are accomplished, are anywhere near as accomplished as Canelo.
This is the same BS Floyd fans use. Going off name value and past accomplishments and not factoring actual present danger. Beating past prime fighters is not the same as fighting prime elite fighters. Fury and AJ were both extremely dangerous when Usyk fought them. This is a guy moving up to heavyweight the most dangerous division. Not beating a washed Canelo who has been in many wars over a 20 year career. What is Crawford's other best win? Spence? And now you have the guys on here who were saying Spence wasn't the same after the car crash saying Crawford ranks above Usyk? LMAO.
I kind of agree with this but I think it’s fair to say that they were blessed with having peers of that quality who helped them push themselves to a higher level, Crawford has achieved all he has achieved without having the luxury of peers who can push him, he has achieved everything and only really completed with himself. I’m not saying that he is the best of all time but if I was arguing against him being the best of all time, I would lose every argument the moment 3 weight undisputed champion is brought up, and if that’s not enough it could be said that he has never had any difficulty in any fight, and if that’s not enough it could be said that no judge has ever favoured his opponent. I don’t really get into any arguments like this because it’s all pretty much irrelevant to me, what I see in a fighter, their composure, their character, their ability, their technique, their ring iq and all those little details are how I define greatness, resume, results and titles are only important for those who are looking to validate their opinions, I don’t give a shiit. I have never seen a fighter with the ability of Crawford and his titles have no bearing whatsoever on that, other than the platform that it gave him.
Clearing cruiser and beating Furyx2 AJx2 and Dubiousx2, all massive in comparison, is clearly better. A lot of desperate people here. At least two of Bud's big wins were opponents not at their best and this was also the guy who fought a shot Khan. I mean, that wasn't exactly a dare to be great moment, lol.
