You what? One was one of the greatest sportsmen this country ever produced. The other was a man who completely wasted his life spreading hate speech. Their names should never be spoken in the same sentence. Shame on you.
Poor Ricky, tragic end for such a great person. Brilliant boxer, entertaining, and always came across as a good guy to. Genuinely saddened with this news...
So true, had a couple of months off the booze this summer and it opened my eyes a bit. RIP Ricky, sorry for my terrible karaoke singing when we were in the same bar in Tenerife.
Genuinely shocked and saddened when I found this out. A true British boxing icon who was loved by many due to the way he fought and his humble personality. A man of the people who will be sadly missed. RIP champ.
On the back of this tragic news I'd just please advise anyone feeling low to reach out for help.... It doesn't make you weak, it means you are strong
It's terrible news but unfortunately not a big surprise. Ricky Hatton lost his identity as a human being after he retired. He didn't know what to do with himself and he began abusing alcohol and pills. Rip.
You do wonder if Ricky had depression brought on by cte from the obvious head trauma he would have went through in boxing. Either way.... Really bloody sad......
I remember years ago I was with Marvin Hagler several nights and he was actually a very vulnerable person with feelings. People thought he was a superman but that's just a role I play, he told me. He started crying when he told me he felt like he had never received true love from another person. Sports people are vulnerable people.
