Will Bud's victory light a fire under Usyk?

Pretty much this. Usyk and Crawford are both undefeated. It's all about who has beaten the better fighters. I give it to Usyk because Cruiserweight was the strongest division that either fighter cleaned out. But if somebody wants to say Bud has the better resume and stiffer competition, I won't argue with them too much.

 

Usyk's resume is already quite a bit better. Then he has his amateur record too.

Canelo is past prime, it's obvious and I said that before the fight, not after. They took the fight because Canelo has looked to be slipping. It's the exact same reason people like Saunders started calling for the Golovkin fight after Golovkin looked to be slowing down and Ward called for Kovalev after that poor performance in Russia.

If you want proper cred for your resume you need to call for these 'dare to be great' fights when the opponents aren't faded. Why didn't Bud challenge Canelo years ago since they're clearly not that different in size naturally and Bud has been draining massively to make low weight classes? He could have gone after Canelo at MW, a smaller step in weight. That's what Brook did with Golovkin, right?

Reason is that Canelo was too dangerous back then.

Usyk didn't challenge these massive HW's when they were clearly past it.

 

I mean… crawford also said the same thing about Usyk. lol And Usyk is one of the most humble people in the sport so he’d NEVER just call himself the best. He has class.

 

I don't think Usyk really cares that much, hes proud of his own legacy.

Usyk is a heavyweight, Crawford is a little guy, they're not competitors by any means. Usyk is 3-time, 2-division undisputed champion - all he can do to shore up his legacy is defend against the Parker-Wardley winner, and ideally Kabayel too.

Crawford beating Canelo has done nothing to change that

 

He needs to fight Crawford not one of these big slow mummies.

agreed. A Parker win would be a nice addition to the resume, but an Ituama win has the potential to age really, really, really well. Might not, who knows, but the potential for that win to mean a LOT 10-15 years down the road is there.

 

Usyk couldn't possibly have done anymore. There's no heavyweights he needs to beat that he hasn't already, he's won every belt in every division that was remotely possible for him.

There's still plenty for Crawford to do, Crawford needs to pick up some titles at Middleweight, and fight Ennis. Maybe even challenge himself more and move up to light heavyweight and fight Beterbiev or Bivol.

 

Another full blown panic attack. No one is going to answer those silly questions. Two fighters can be great.

 

I think the fans are more worried about it than the fighters themselves.

Crawford & Usyk are friends and have great respect for eachother and have never preyed on eachothers downfall.

I think Usyk/Crawford are just interested in carving out their own legacy/journey.
