There may have been a few contenders in the 1920s who would have a Buster Douglas moment against Tyson.

Can’t think of any, unless we give Tunney every steroid known to man

According to (many on) this forum, Mike Tyson gets an asterisk for every fight he ever lost so they consider him undefeated and figure he would beat any man who ever lived.

Well, maybe any man not named Jake Paul.

I think the first fighter who could actually beat Tyson was Liston 50/60 but that's also doubtful

    Muhamm
ad Ali would have beaten Tyson. At least 2 out of 3.

I think thaat Tyson beats most but Jess Willard actually could pull it. Willard was huge, had a decent chin (imagine taking Dempsey's shots for three rounds and coming back for more) and power. Maybe he doesnt win but puts up a good fight.

With Tunney its 50/50. Tunney can box his ears off but ii Tyson lands a Dempsey like combination it will be a veeery looong count before Tunney gets up.

Dempsey had a hard punch and could knock you out but his style was taylor made for Tyson. This is another 50/50 preposition.

Jack Johnson on the other hand beats Tyson. Im 80 percent sure a young Jack would box his ears off but there is a caveat: weight can be an issue: Johnson was pretty slender for a heavyweight and Tyson decimates cruiserweights lol

In the late 80s, there was so much hoopla about Tyson's supposed invincibility, specially after he easily defeated the other monster in the heavyweight division (Michael Spinks)-remember, this was the era where one punch from Tyson knocked you out in the Punch Out game!-I even bought into it. People thought Tyson eventually deflated his opponents or made them fight defensively enough to win on points so he was, to me, invincible FOR THE ERA.

But I always thought even then that an Ali fight would be a 50/50 preposition and that he could lose to Rocky Marciano, to Joe Louis despite Louis fragile chin, and a few others from eras before.

Yes, after the Liston era, there were several fighters who could have beaten him, especially if they caught him in his Tokyo form. Ali, Foreman, Lyle, Cooney, Holmes, Frazier, Tucker, Thomas, Douglas and Holyfield, of course. But by the 1950s, it was very difficult. And a well-prepared Tyson was even more difficult.

Willard could hypothetically survive if he fought like Bonecrusher Smith when he fought Tyson. But he would lose the decision like Smith did.

How many of you believe in false fall as the real fall that is real in all of its...fallness?

Tyson wasn't tough mentally...if Tyson didn't get you by the 6th round...he became a different fighter. If you think that "Iron" Mike was going to steamroll 1919 Jack Dempsey...or Gene Tunney on his best night...your dreaming!

Well, Tyson lost seven rounds to Buster and in the eighth he knocked him out for 14 seconds. I think he could fight Demosey and Tunney on the same night. You're very sentimental, my friend.

1920s? Tyson could do a Foreman and take them on 5 a night. 2 consecutive nights would be the top 10. All 1 st or 2nd round if they tried just to survive ko s.
