Bivol but he was the much bigger man.
That said it was more impressive of a feat to go up 2-3 weight classes & do that to canelo in his first fight at the weight class.

    final answer = Crawford

Idk. Bivol absolutely schooled canelo but was also the bigger guy. Bud was more competetive but was coming up in weight. In terms of pure schooling id say bivol. In terms of beating the odds crawford

Consider all you want. Canelo was not green when Mayweather beat him. Again, 8 year pro with over 40 fights. If anyone can name another green fighter in the history of the sport with a resume like Canelo's at the time he fought Maywether, let me know.
There are 2 narratives I disagree with. Canelo was green and he improved significantly after Mayweather. I refute those claims by asking the question in the above paragraph and argued that Canelo never got better at fighting guys with a good ring IQ, good feet, good jab and good timing. Saturday proved me right again.

I think they looked equally impressive in their wins. Both won without a lot of trouble.

I think that Crawfords was in reality more impressive. Bivol had a significant size advantage, giving the edge to Bud. Imo.

I believe we should give credits to Crawford for his performance, as Bivol was naturally bigger than Canelo and was more expected, where Crawford is naturally smaller than Canelo. On top of that, Canelo is famous with his body drainage and bulking up literally 50lbs overnight.

Call it whatever you like. Prior to the Mayweather fight Canelo had fought the likes of past prime Shane Mosley, Carlos Baldomir, Kermit Cintron, Lovemore N'Dou, Josesito Lopez, and Austin Trout. Trout was arguably his most credible win up to that point before losing to Maywether.

Going into the Bivol fight Canelo by that point had already been seen as arguably the best P4P fighter and had already gone through opponents such as GGG, Lara, Cotto, Khan, Jacobs, Kovalev, Smith, Saunders, and Plant. Clearly Canelo had faced and beaten much more style variety and better fighters at this time and had improved much more defensively and ring IQ wise. And then going into the Crawford fight he was also on a decent streak although perhaps slowed by then but still had more experience and still undisputed at 168.

Every fighter has a different kind of development depending on the style and career management. Ali at 23 had already beaten the likes of Liston, Patterson, Moore and Tyson had also beaten Holmes and Spinks at the same age. "Green" is probably not the right word to describe Canelo when he fought Mayweather but he was clearly not as complete of a fighter until after he lost. Azumah Nelson was green when he gave Salvador Sanchez a hard fight and he got better after the loss. Pacquiao was most definitely a green fighter when he beat Barrera because he wasn't as technically improved but slowly developed into an even better fighter afterwards. Age isn't a factor when referring a green fighter but mainly experience against elite level opponents.

To my point, he never got better at fighting guys with good movement, jabs and footwork. I did not see a significant improvement after the Mayweather fight. That's not saying Canelo wasn't a P4P fighter, just that Floyd fought a complete fighter when he faced Canelo. I like how you try being slick by changing the definition of green. The very definition of someone being green is, being inexperienced in life or a job. An 8 year pro with 40+ fights is not inexperienced.

Bivol looked far more aesthetically pleasing beating Canelo and really discouraged him coming in

Against Crawford, Canelo kept on coming at him all night

He has never "literally" bulked up 50lbs overnight.

Such a dehydration would kill someone.

Inexperience at elite level, that's the difference. Like I said "green" wasn't the right word to describe Canelo fighting Floyd but he wasn't the complete fighter at that point. That's not to discredit Mayweather's win at all. I mainly made the comparison with Bivol and Crawford because they fought Canelo when he was more highly regarded and undisputed at 168.

Also Canelo did pretty well for himself against movers like Saunders and Plant. Styles make fights and every fighter that has good movement, jab, and footwork is going to be a bit harder to deal with for a flat footed plodder like Canelo. It all just depends on the fighters and how they utilize that movement. There's no shame in losing to level elite level fighters like Mayweather, Bivol, and Crawford.

Ok, inexperienced at the elite level is the best way to put it. I can agree with that. But, there wasn't too many guys Canelo could have fought to prepare him for Floyd. During that time Floyd separated himself from the other elite fighters.

Bud landed more? Based on what, the stats? There's no way he landed more. Bivol was teeing off on Canelo at times. Bivol actually dominated. Can't take anyone that says Crawford won easier seriously.

I’d personally like to see less of the “size difference” argument being used. Bivol had dimensional advantages, sure, but no more dimensional advantages than Plant, BJS, Rocky Fielding, Kovalev and Callum Smith all had. The fight night weight estimates were 183 and 180 for Bivol and Canelo respectively. There was probably a similarly small discrepancy between Bud and Canelo (and Bud had a greater reach advantage over Canelo than Bivol did). Giving up weight is what Usyk does routinely, and what Loma was doing when he fought Teo and Haney.

Bivol, but someone who is 5'7 has no business fighting at 175!

Qawi was 5'6 and one of the best H2H fighters at 175.

Griffin was also pretty good at 175 aswell being 5'7 he beat Toney x2 and gave a peak RJJ a tough fight.
