Never officially dropped except when he got hurt by kavaliauskas but that was ruled a slip and Crawford wasn't so hurt enough to be forced on on his bicycle so it's a meaningless knockdown. Rocked a couple of times but besides that he's got a very good chin. Canelo couldn't even rock him

That's why I didn't agree with the Canelo ko predictions I knew he was going up in weight and a lot of weight it was but hes got a great chin and hes insanely defensively responsible

Haven't really seen him take many flush punches and he hasn't fought that many punchers.

I know @Serge has a breakdown of Crawford's opponents and from memory there's not many stand out punchers amongst the list.

Madrimov landed plenty and could not rock him once. Madrimov isn't a big puncher but he has power. Canelo landed a couple flush shots and never rocked him. Bud has a good chin. He has to have a good chin

It is difficult for smaller fighters to join those clubs because they are fighting smaller fighters.

The main way we grade chins is not getting knocked down or knocked out but that doesn't happen that much at the smaller weight classes regardless. So how are we supposed to tell whose got an ATG chin? Especially an undefeated champion who never takes an extended beating.

Because he's barely fought any KO artists or legit punchers, especially ones his size and on one of the rare occasions he did he got dropped albeit as you rightly admit ever so conveniently the HOME ref didn't count it

Let alone KO artists and legit bangers much or way bigger than him

If he was actually facing bigger, much or way bigger opponents as he was ascending through the weight classes who were much bigger than him and had fought lots of punchers as opposed to often being the much or bigger guy when he moves up or roughly the same size it would be different

    He has a good chin

Crawford fans praise him to high heaven for routinely doing something he's never done, if you're going to lavish praise on him for beating much bigger guys how's about he actually does it to warrant it?

No, Madrimov is definitely a big puncher

So is Mean Machine but he dropped him and they were both at worst his size not bigger despite both being career 154 and 147 pounders respectively

Very durable chin. For someone that isn't really considered a defensive minded fighter he really doesn't get hit flush that frequently. And when he does get hit clean or hurt momentarily it doesn't phase him one bit.

Canelo touched him with a few right hands but none of them were devastating or real flush punches and Canelo's power hasn't been a factor for numerous years now.

I've only see Madrimov fight against Crawford & Ortiz and to me he has an amateur style and I wasn't really impressed with his power but maybe I'm wrong.

No one said Crawford can't take a shot but you're thread title is saying "amongst the best" and that's a different argument entirely.

Its similar to Mayweather. He gets a lot more credit for his defence than his chin, which is probably fair enough.

Mean Machine stunned him but that 100% wasn’t a knock down. People need to rewatch that sequence and stop lying to themselves.

Okay, Bud is probably the greatest living Murican now.
But before we claim iron chin at MW+, let's see him take shots from these characters:

    MW:
Golovkin, Lemieux, Abraham, that one who dropped Froch
    At SMW:
Groves, Kessler, Froch, Callum Smith, Jack

I think all of them hit harder than Canelo and would have Bud in a lot of chin trouble.

Bud is just special. At 25 he goes the distance with 9-19 Angel Rios, few years later gets hurt by Gamboa. Just keeps getting better and better, shows zero signs of aging. That is also though why it is good to have Victor Conte working his magic and not some idiot having the fighter take clen.
