Mike Tyson possibly could beat all the fighters from the 1920's. Dempsey from the 20's, has the best chance of upsetting Mike's apple cart.

I mean the best 1920s fighters are Dempsey, Wills, Langford and maybe Jack Johnson still. All of those seem easy for Tyson. There's Dempsey's taller opponents who are tailor made for Tyson.

But if Tyson is actually born in the timeframe, he wouldn't have a Cus De Amato to train him none stop from the age of 13 through to 20, with footage of Patterson, Frazier, Armstrong, Walker for him to build on. That was a luxury under a great boxing trainer that could not be imagined in the 1920s.

In this era it was a semi pro sport for most boxers. Boxers from this era didn't have any of the same advantages of boxers of later generations.

If anyone doubts this, look at how chess has improved over the decades because of learning of past mistakes.

Tyson would kick the **** out of those guys. Can anyone seriously see career light heavyweights like Gibbons, Miske, and Carpentier being contenders in the 1980s and 90s? And no, Im not talking about taking them out of the 20s and roiding them up. Im talking about them actually being contenders as they were in the 1920s. Theres no way. Tony Tucker, Bonecrusher Smith, Tony Tubbs, even Quick Tillis would have beaten them with relative ease. You want to put Tyson in against them?

While I think Dempsey might be a little light in the pants for Tyson, he definitely had speed of foot and hand that would serve him very well. Dempsey's main problem would be staying out of a brawl and instead using his skills.

there was definitely a period in time where Tyson, the real one, probably beats every heavyweight whom ever lived...

He would beat alot of them. If they had a round robin tournament of the great heavyweights and compared Mike would have one of the better records. None of them would be undefeated.

I think Cus D’Amato took the best fundamentals of the old school and put them into a highly athletic and talented modern fighter. The result was an incredible young champion. That said I think he should be heavily favored against the best of the 1920’s.

Yup. Tyson is definitely the favorite but Dempsey probably has the best chance out of anyone, even if those chances aren't particularly favorable.

Miske was better against superheavys. Miske would be more successful today then was in 1910s.

Willard MIGHT be able pull a Bonecrusher Smith and survive the distance to lose a decision if he just clinches anytime Tyson gets close
