WOW I just checked out the WW rankings..... Has 147lbs ever been this bad as it is now?

Giyasov, Stanionis and Norman are world class. The rest are trash

Norman has a legit chance at undisputed if he beats Devin and stays at 147. That Irish kid that "won" the IBF is a free unification for any other champ.

Arguably the worst division in the sport at the moment, aside from Norman, I don't think any of them have the potential to be world-class. The two Uzbeks are good, but they're both approaching their mid-30s and aren't getting any fresher. Norman could genuinely clean up, I think he would obliterate Crocker in about three rounds, but I can see that title staying in the UK, probably Crocker vs Benn. Then hopefully Crocker wins so he can have a couple of defences in Belfast.

If Norman beats Haney that would elevate him a good fair amount.

Although, the rest of the division is painful to look at, especially the current champions.

Maybe 2003-04? When Cory Spinks and Mayorga were at the top. But then, I legit think Cory Spinks might very well beat everyone ranked in the top 10 currently so I dunno

And whos to say Mayorga wouldn’t “surprise” most of them either, tbh!

As a side note, I just learned a very interesting factoid after boxrecing Mayorga for the first time in years - his final fight was against Lester Martinez in his pro debut!

It probably has been just not in our lifetime. We're used to it being the most popular non HW division on a fairly consistant basis.
