I was just thinking about this what are/were some boxers that are overrated due to excitement or being perceived as being more technical than they really are/were.

Muhammad Ali, Vitali Klitschko, Rubin Carter, Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, Zab Judah, Naseem Hamed (obviously), Vasiliy Lomachenko, George Foreman, Wilfred Benitez, Devin Haney (Keyshawn Davis is better than him and Shakur)

Sugar Ray Robinson almost made the list

You would think Loma was some supergenius the way some people cared on about him in his prime, he was damn near elite to be fair but he could be an outrageously slow starter and he could at times not have enough heart, both of his losses against Lopez and Haney saw him essentially not fighting the final round.

Vasiliy Lomachenko, according to his fans, would beat Broly.

Emmanuel Augustus had a very ugly looking record even in his prime.

    Right now? Ben Whittaker.

    Lomachenko

And agreed with the above. In recent years a lot of casuals have watched YouTube clips of Augustus and some of them have labeled him "the best fighter to never win a title."

Augustus was a bum. The very definition of a journeyman.

    Pretty much any heavyweight puncher.

Shavers, Tua, Wilder, and lesser ones like Price, Mahmoudov, etc. before they were completely exposed.

Corbett by far for me. I've never seen another boxer of any era who is / was so hyped both H2H and achievement wise who I don't really consider that impressive.

Its weird because on one hand fans acknowledge power guys generally are less skilled. On the other hand they want the sport to actively discriminate on their behalf against the cyclists.
