Yes, but what you seem to be overlooking is that it was Duran's boxing that compelled Leonard's decision to fight that way because, in his own words, he had "no alternative".

Simply put, and to be clear, Duran wasn't helped by Leonard; Duran helped himself.

He didn’t though, when they were at range Duran beat him, he landed more jabs than the bigger fighter with the longer reach

The fact of the matter is that Duran was the better fighter and Leonard couldn’t live with him.
Even Leonard admitted ‘I couldn’t do what I wanted to do’
Duran beat him in every department. Leonard himself admitted he was beaten fair and square but you can’t ?

When did I say Duran didn't beat Leonard fair and square? He did.

All I'm saying is it might've gone differently if Leonard fought the way he did in the rematch, but you're insisting it would've gone exactly the same no matter what which is nonsense.

Leonard didn't "help" Duran, but he didn't do himself any favors fighting Duran at his own game. Not sure how this can be denied with a straight face.

You do realize that my point was referring to causality, right? That this wasn't just a poor choice on the part of Leonard and more a case of Duran having forced him into that position?

I feel we're going in circles over semantics.

We both believe Duran won fair and square and imposed his will on Leonard. We disagree on whether or not Duran psyched him out and got Leonard to fight his type of fight. Let's leave it at that.

I don't think this really covers it, but yeah --- calling it a day seems best.

In the rematch Leonard was getting the better of the inside exchanges, he would have won no matter what he did, that’s why he started clowning and mocking, and why Duran quit.

in the first fight Duran had the speed to tag him if he’d started doing that clowning around, he didn’t have it in the rematch.
Leonard never fought that way clowning around like Emmanuel Augustus or somebody, he didn’t start doing that stuff until he knew he wasn’t fighting the same Duran.

Ah okay, I see where this is going.

Conspiracy theory that Duran psyched out Leonard and tricked him into fighting on the inside=nonsense that can be dismissed.

Conspiracy theory that Leonard schemed and planned on Duran getting out of shape to make the rematch easier so he could clown him like Augustus=an obvious fact.

    Have a good one.

Well since Leonard literally admitted he couldn’t do what he wanted in the first fight, and also admitted he wanted Duran at his weakest so he could beat him, yeah it’s obvious.
The fighter himself admitted he couldn’t do what he wanted to Duran both at their best, but you can’t accept it.

I can accept that you're a fanboy and look at history through a tinted lense.

GCC why not just prove him wrong instead of resorting to Ad Hominem?

It’s not a tinted lens I just find it difficult to see your side of things when the fights and fighters and trainers comments are right there for us to see and hear.
