(date is just a placeholder, there's been nothing announced officially - but come on. A draw and FOTY contender, and the most immediate outcry for a rematch I can ever remember hearing)

Maybe twelve rounds next time? :deal:

(as this one should have been, with it being for the WBC interim title)

Lester will beat him, if he had jabbed, punched from angles and moved Mbilli would have been in serious trouble

I think if Martinez backs up just enough to get more space on his shots a time or two, he will get the job done and not leave it to the judges.

Can’t wait, first fight was a straight up WAR!

Crazy how quickly they announced the rematch but can't complain. It was an excellent slugfest from start to finish. I'm thinking someone is going to get stopped this time.

Martinez won the fight and he should be the slight favorite in the rematch.

    I had Martinez 7-3.

I didn't find it that good. If you saw one round you'd seen the whole thing.

You made that comment in the RBR and I found it insane then and still think so.

Fights don't have to have dramatic ebb and flow of momentum reversals or traded knockdowns to be thrilling. If you're finding yourself desensitized halfway into a ten round sustained rock 'em sock 'em robot hook & uppercut fest, that's more of a you problem than an issue with the fight itself. :sisi1

Also the drama watching it live came from wondering if and when either man's chin would crack from all that, as logic dictated that somebody's must, eventually, with that pace sustained for that long.

12 rounds that are pretty much replicas of one another isn't too exciting. It's like watching a great action sequence in a movie for 3 minutes then replaying it 12 times. There's a difference of course, you don't know for sure what's going ro happen next, but eventually it sets in that the exact same thing will happen.

I also didn't find Mibili that interesting. He's just running in every time. There's no wrinkles.

I thought Mbilli gave his all and could not have feasibly done any better. Martinez, on the other hand, has the scope to make simple adjustments in order to become much more effective. As long as Martinez is humble and reappraises the fight with a clear lens, then he will make the necessary adjustments and stop Mbilli.

I thought the fight was a draw, Lester definitely hurt Mbilli more but did get out worked a bit too.

Mbilli is weird, built like Mike Tyson but punching power is closer to Malignaggi lol.
He throws with bad intentions and his speed and accuracy is great, shots look like they would fall an elephant but when they land blokes barely blink lol.

If Mbilli actually had power he might be unbeatable.
