I want Alexis to win this but I think he has trouble here. Chavez was relentless and had a strong body attack that would wear on Arguello. Mancini and Elizondo both hurt him to the body to my recollection, albeit at 135. Chavez also had a fantastic chin. Arguello would certainly find it and would test it like nobody else at 130 did, but I don’t think he can stop JCC. Alexis can also hurt you to the body, might be interesting to see how Julio responds to it. I don’t see Chavez stopping Alexis either, he’s not throwing at Pryor’s relentless pace, but I can see him taking a decision over 12, or 15. Alexis is not fleet of foot enough to dance away, he would be a very busy matador with a very angry bull. Arguello could win but I would favour Chavez to maul his way to victory, more often than not. Nothing would make me happier than being wrong here. I love Arguello and hate matching him h2h vs either JCC at 130 or Duran at 135. I think 130 is the most competitive he will be against Chavez. Anything higher it leans even more to Julio.
@130, I'd favor Arguello, who was @ his physical peak @ this weight, whereas I don't think Chavez was as physically strong as he would be @ 135 & relied more on his boxing skills @ this weight.
I also like Arguello here @130 I think it's a good style match up for him unlike what alot of others thought in previous threads. Arguello is the harder hitter...they go to the body equally well IMO and Arguello won't have to go looking for him. Chavez will take the early lead then Alexis will start taking over. AA by UD. I also think Alexis rocks him a few times with that rt hand.
Tough fight, especially since the smaller Ruben Olivares was getting the better of Arguello in their fight before getting caught. But still, I'd like to think Alex can pull it off as Chavez did get hit a lot with the right hand.
