Gervonta Davis plans to retire by the end of 2025 after 3 fights; says boxing has become trash

Can anyone think of any other fighter in the history of the sport who has all but retired in their prime because they were being backed into a corner to fight against guys who could actually beat them? I'm still struggling to believe Paul vs Tank is a real thing, exhibition or not, absolutely pathetic, and hopefully the numbers are low enough on Netflix for it to be considered a failure.

 

Just goes to show how much of a mental midget this guy is. Blames the fans, talks bad about other fighters, and FOLDS when pressured to prove himself. How is this considered a fighter?

 

It's ironic when considering he always had everything stacked in his favor. Rehydration clauses, opponents moving up in weight, being the A-side, getting MILLIONS for nothing fights. Yet he's still complaining and playing victim smh

 

I imagine Mayweather has channelled his narcissism through Tank, especially mentoring him in the early days, and has basically told him that he can't lose his zero at any cost, and this is how this Paul exhibition circus has come into fruition. A total stain on the sport, the best thing to do is not watch this clown fight and hope the Netflix numbers are so low that they come out and announce they won't be showing another Paul fight, that's the best case scenario here.

 

I honestly hope the newcomers like Abdullah Mason or Curmel Moton follow Bud's example rather than Tank

 

What a shameless clown and a complete waste of talent. I can't stand him or Jake Paul so this fight is sort of win win in a way because the loser will be humiliated either way. If Tank loses he lost to a youtube bum and if Jake loses he lost to a guy half his size LOL.

 

Difference is Mayweather fought quality opposition and gave rematches to whoever ran him close. If he was in Tanks position he would've made sure to rematch Roach and give him a boxing lesson. That verbal diarrhea from Tank is one the most pathetic statements I've ever seen from a top level fighter.

can’t really disagree as to what’s going on here. Although I’d far prefer to look at positive influences of Mayweather on boxing where possible — Shakur Stevenson, for example. What he’s taken from Mayweather are moves and techniques.

Agreed. I'm thinking more along the lines of the "business" of not losing the 0 rather than their actual opposition. Floyd is on a different planet to Tank, that guy is a clown and made a total mockery of the sport.

I mean his ability level. In my opinion the man's got the ability to match up (maybe not win) against the best around his weight. He just can't seem to get himself to mentally be in a bout he feels even close to potentially losing. Roach was cherry pick gone wrong.
