Does James Toney always lose to Roy Jones Jr?

When would the earliest version of beatable Jones be for you?

Is this version the same for both Hop and Toney or would you favour one of these to be able to beat him earlier than the other?

    If so, why?

I think after Roy beat Ruiz in 2003 and then dropped back down in weight, losing all that weight was a huge mistake and he never was the same again. So from that point in time, when he fought Tarver on, he would have been vulnerable to losing to a Toney or a Hopkins. I think Hopkins had a better chance against Jones than Toney simply because James was fairly sedentary with his footwork. But the slower Jones got, with diminished footwork and reduced output, the more the gap between the Jones and a Toney would have been, particularly the higher the weight. Toney was a pretty darn good cruiser, and Jones was not. But even at 175, for whatever reason, once he came back down in weight after Ruiz, Jones simply never was the same again.

Why are we putting Roy in handicap matches against James? The best iteration of Roy always spanks the best iteration of James.

Can't understand this endless fanboy fantasy of a world in which James Toney beats Roid Jones. The grasping at any possible scenario where it could actually happen.

It's been over 30 years. Toney isn't fit to carry Jones' spit bucket. Accept it and you'll feel better.
